Hey QingXiang, I've been wondering - How does it feel to have your 'ask blog' run by an american slob who knows fuck all about real chinese culture? =_=

((Ok I’m just gonna start off this ask by saying “no.” and hoping that the read more works

Right, first off, I’m english not american, not that that’s at all relevant to anything. As for knowing about Chinese culture, I’ll admit that I don’t know all that much, but I’ve been trying my best to understand things, in particular before I started ask blogging for Qingxian, I did my best to memorise a bunch of chinese proverbs and I looked into a lot of the cultural things like new years.

Also, I would like to point out that a vast knowledge of the “real” culture of a character’s country is NOT a necessity for making an ask blog. Ask blogging for me and many other people is a way of showing love for the character, improving art skills and making friends - it wouldn’t surprise me at all if many of the ask blogs around at the moment don’t have a clue about their characters culture, but they manage just fine!

Furthermore, sending anonymous hateful messages to an ask blog isn’t going to change anything. If anything, even politely asking me if I could pay more attention to culture in my asks (or, in particular actually mentioned an ask where I’ve incorrectly understood chinese culture). If you want to improve an ask blog for the better, hateful messages isn’t the way to go about it - maybe if you love Qingxian too, you should make an ask blog for her? It seems you’re good enough at understanding her culture to pick out that I’m not good enough, so surely you’d be just fine?

I apologise if that sounded rude, which brings me point out that your use of swearing is unnecessary and just generally plain rude.

But anyway, in short, this wasn’t a good way to phrase what you wanted to say, and I can see no way in which this could be considered a constructive criticism or a request. Ask blogging is about fun a lot more than it is about accuracy! But I’m sorry that I’ve offended you to the point where you thought that this was an appropriate thing to do.
