Ask Unusual Golems

Jukebox Golem is a bronze golem whose body contains a jukebox. He can only communicate through playing lyrical songs, and can only see you if you make a noise. He and his canine companion Wolfgang live in a forest with some friends, just outside of a snow biome.

Baldur: You speak strange, Anon. I keep lots of things in my chest at any given time. If I've just gone mining, it'll be filled with ores and excess blocks; if I'm working in the fields, wheat and seeds and other wares. I keep random knick-knacks and trinkets in here as well, if'n I find any. Y'know, I've got so many extra blocks and items. I really should map a trade route or summat. Might not make Midas happy, meeting new folk, but nothing really does make the big brute happy.

Mod: I described what Finnley would look like as a human and my sister drew him for me! I'm so happy!!

Finnley: No, but ta be honest I wish they would every now n' again. It gets lonely out 'ere all by meself. Th' only time I see mah master is when we shift to new territory.

Baldur: Our creator told Juke everything--his methods, his plans, his secrets. In exchange, Juke can't really talk or see, per se. But he hears damn near everything. This gives him no ability to spill whatever mysteries he was told and no foundation upon which to judge who is a friend, or a foe. To him, whether you're good or bad is based on what you do to him and his friends. I think that's how our master wanted it. If someone ever finds out how to make Juke talk, he certainly won't squeal if you've been mean to 'im.

Mod: Here's the drawing I used for dancing!Finnley. It was fun to draw. Hopefully tonight I will be able to draw a bunch of asks, hehe. I can't wait to get started on them.

Baldur: Juke n’ I were out a couple years back when we found a cub snapped in an old trap. I must’ve scared the fella when I came a’lumbering to help him, ‘cause he made to bolt. ‘Cept the trap kept his paw, you see.

I let the little guy in my storage on some wool, and told Juke what was happening as we hurried home. He was terrible concerned for the pup and helped me nurse him back to health as well as he could. (which wasn’t truthfully very much; blind golems ain’t helpful golems.)

Juke played music for ‘im to help him sleep, and the pup eventually understood Juke couldn’t see so he led him around by yapping it up. This has become their routine now, and it’s hard to find them sep’rate from each other.

Mod: Mkay, so, I saw a cool creeper headcanon this week (don't remember what it was really) and it inspired one if my own. Here goes!

When baby creepers hatch, they've got heads seemingly too big for their body like any other baby animal does. But this can be a real problem for the little guys, because on their knobbly, unsteady legs, it's easy to tip over and get stuck. Luckily they gain confidence in their gait after about a week, so Mom doesn't always have to come and nudge them back over.

The next thing is that when they hatch they are a darker green than their parents, but have lighter spots on their flanks and faces for camouflage. Their skin gets lighter as they mature and makes it look like the spots disappear, but really they're getting lighter to match the spots. Many creepers still have a mottled appearance in adulthood to still mimic the varying shades of the plants and trees in their habitat.

The last is that, especially baby creepers, they will gradually change colors to match the changing and falling leaves in autumn. Fall is an especially fun time for baby creepers because all the leaves are on the ground and they don't have to hide in the undergrowth all the time! They can romp and play in the open without feeling in too much danger of higher predators.

Emma: Oh wow! I never seen another snow golem before! Well umm, I might not look like it but I'm a snow golem too. My name is Emma what's yours?

Finnley: Aye, s’that so? Hmph. Well, Emma, a’m Finnley, and tha’ is my pumpkin patch yer trampin’ in. Come on out.

If ya are a golem, then good on ye. But righ’ now yer lookin’ pretty human to me, so c’mon. Ye must be cold. I have a shack nearby ye can bade in.
