Terrifying Hugs
@yorxichi
雷神–Emotional wasn’t he? It had gotten slightly worse the last time she saw him. It had been slightly overwhelming. This is why whenever she wandered along Seireitei or even close to the manor she would be sure he wouldn’t see her. Today had been a mistake on her behalf. Meh, she would leave it as it was for now. “Stop sniffling, you’re getting snot all over me.” She didn’t know what was worse: the smaller Shohoin, or Kisuke? the shopkeeper himself never got snot on her, not that she recalled.
“Che–What of the clan elders?” Ignoring his other questions she seemed now a bit interested in what he had to say. She had no plan in coming back fully, she actually enjoyed her time back in the World of the Living.
───── Emotional was certainly one way to remark upon his nature... and admittedly overly enthusiastic self. If nothing else, it was sure to exasperate some of his tutors growing up, as it would be rather difficult to stealthily perform combat operations in the Onmitsukido if he spent his time giggling and toying with his prey. As if in gentle response, those sniffles gave way to a teary-eyed smile and happily devoted purr. Even relaxed as he was, the young man’s shuddering exhale was as warm as could be once the clan heir spoke.
“Ehe. Nee sama, defeated by her little brother’s tears of joy~” he teased lightly, arching back on his heels in case those sandals needed to quickly shunpo out of the way from an irate sister. Though his hips rolled with the unsteady movement of his stretch, Yuushirou paused almost thoughtfully to consider...just how to address the clan's uhm... enthusiasm for her safe return!
“But I’m sure they cried tears of joy too, those elders. A couple of the elders even petitioned that old guy who gave me sweets and kept telling me to fix my posture! But Mister Yama said they were all idiots and he wasn’t gonna pay for an entire division to hunt someone down in the world of the living. I think people just figured you would come back when you were good and ready~”
Rukia Taichou
@glacies-tempestatem
—[ 氷の女王]— She perceived the joy for the invitation to the Living World, which made her glad. She enjoys the company of the mocha boy, he is smart and sympathetic, plus he is enchanting. On the other hand would be nice he take a rest of all his duties and occupations. Surely, for a young person so restless a place with many things to see would be perfect and probably he finds deadly bored the paperwork of the clan.
She looked at him and raised an eyebrow. Was not a secret she adores the winter and the snow. Rukia finds more beautiful a frozen lake than an endless sea with a sun breeze. However would be a lie tell that she does not like the beach, she prefers those colds one but must admit that beach with friends is nice, and refresh her in the summer. “Sode no Shirayuki finds disgusting the warm weather, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t stand it. Same applies to my, young Yuushirou.” Replied politely, she does not desire to miss a trip with him for such detail.
“Malaysia is amazing at summer, all the Southeast Asia is wonderful by the way. I just think that Malaysia would have all we need, big cities, wonderful bleach and is modern. But we can visit other places as I mentioned, like Thailand or perhaps we can visit the Caribbean!” We just need to decide the days and we go!” Expressed with an enthusiastic tone.
───── Yuushirou had the pleasure of visiting the world of the living before with Hirako taichou, but honestly? The young man was thrilled for every moment to see outside the walls of the Seireitei. For someone like him taking leave of his clan was usually close to impossible, so he often just enjoyed a nice chai tea or salad while glancing out from the main hall's balcony at the city below. The excitement it seemed, was usually something that came to him- though Yuu chan could hopefully be forgiven for not desiring too much. Especially after having to fight that nigh immortal Askin! At least the rest of the quincy seemed nice~
"Why not? Just so long as the clan doesn't pop in through a gate to the world of the living and hands me paperwork. I might stick with seeing the other realms of the afterlife sometime if all else fails; I often wonder what it's like in the Norse and Egyptian soul societies as well. Or...do they all come here when they die? Ahhh, so many questions..."
A thoughtful pause, and those golden blazing hues of his glance curiously at the Kuchiki taichou. His fingers straightened his ceremonial clan robes, and a soft sound exhaled in a hesitant roll of the tongue while he tried to focus. "The... Carribean? Does this mean I should go ask Zaraki taichou for an eye patch? The world of the living still has pirates if I remember right. Ishida san was bemoaning someone pirated his healer lectures online when he came to visit some of the quincy!"
I just realized something…
Meeting the Jolly Giant

───── The morning was sweet, the early hours offering a dew that traced the grass beneath his sandals as Yuushirou strolled happily through the park. He was of course, informed by a single clan member that one of the visored had come to say hello- and it was with no lack of warmth that the boy cheerfully laid eyes upon the former fukutaichou of the Kido Korps, Mister Ushoda. Or, as Shinji and the others who knew him? Hachi, the barrier expert.
On one level? a mild flicker of thoughtfulness ran across the cocoa boy's gaze as some small part of him wondered if the pink mustache and hair were genetic! Failing that, if he just had a really wild youth. Mister Ushoda seemed quite the worldly man- and from what he had heard? The man not only had an Indonesian bali demon mask to don during war, but could literally give a standing ovation and separate body parts with kido barriers! Yet for all this, Hachi could always smile and keep his cool, even if it meant losing an arm decisively on the battlefield. Admirable.
No wonder Nee sama focused on speed. The monstrous attacks of some people who championed the world of the living... one touch could end everything if you couldn't dodge. Just ask Barraggan. As is? The young man bowed his head gently with a dip of his head in courtesy to the fukutaichou's strength. Just because one chose to leave soul society before? Did not mean they would be anything but always be deserving of respect.
"Thank you for the follow, Mister Hachi!"

───── Like fingers drumming at keys, Yuushirou's palm tapped gently over the masonic stone that made up the railings overlooking the lower Rukongai. High within the vaunted walls of the seireitei, with the sun at his back and the robes of his clan as uncomfortable as ever, the young boy glanced back through windswept locks of raven color and jet purple strands.
A silent moment, serene and soft as ever passes, through a wind that reminded him of big sister dashing through the clouds like nothing would stop the clan’s ascent through the Seireitei. The young heir waved gently to the new person following him, a hum rolling off his tongue like a minute waltz as he turned back. Through a slow pause, Yuushirou Shihoin watched the sun rise- as if to reach the heels of his family. All was right in the world, at least for one gentle moment.
Head in the Clouds
@ssevenseat has started following you
───── Yuushirou, of all places, was looking... straight up. As if his head was in the clouds, yet the formal attire and clan subordinates whispering in the back of the compound implied otherwise. Though some part of him felt his neck was being quite troublesome and sore, he still looked up after waiting for a gigantic bestial captain to emerge. To offer welcome, and to hear the news passed through Soul Society so it could be relayed through his clan and in so doing those within the Rukongai.
Later, when it was revealed his awkward posture was unneeded with Sajin taking human form, it was unclear if Yuu chan was crying tears of relief, or despair knowing he stood at attention for so long... for absolutely no reason. He would still offer a hearty, cheerful hello nonetheless because that was just who Yuushirou was~

雷神–This was a constant thing, nothing new. Such excitement would immediately lift along the little Shinigami’s face at the sight of her. It was as expected while she sighed sadly. To meet such cheer from someone so loving and small wasn’t an every day thing. It had been so long since the last time Yoruichi saw the other. Last time was the Thousand-Year Blood War, and he came along still so eager. Although he seemed to keep such energy held deep inside, today was a whole other day. And he shook of it.
Instead of dodging it as she normally did, she allowed him to hug her, not even giving a grunt as he lifted her up in his embrace. “Okay, okay Yuu.” A hand pushed against his forehead. How adorable.
───── A flick of those eyes up at her, reflected only those golden hues beaming with delight, nearly bouncing on his heels before he gently slid her back down to the ground. A soft sniffle emerged without him even realizing what he was doing, though those smaller armguards rose just to rub his watery eyes and offer a heartfelt smile.
“Mmmnh. Nnh! Hiya, nee sama! How’re you?” he breathlessly asked, as good natured as ever. Those hues blinked away whatever hesitation he felt. “Did you come to train Feng Taichou again? Or visit the clan compound? I know the clan elders said they wanted to get their hands on you, so they must really, really have been worried when you skipped training for a couple hundred years!”
The way they wrang their hands helplessly in the air, the funny shade of color their faces turned before they made him the heir... they’ll be so happy seeing her again, Yuushirou was sure of it!
Afterlife Yakuza
───── Shuffle, shuffle. Those were the soft sounds of a little cocoa clan heir trying and possibly failing to avoid eye contact. As he casually tried slinking out of sight with a pale face, poor Yuu chan was as always unprepared to be focused on, or even nonchalantly followed! And for all their overpowering strength, the royal court guard were always the most eye catching even while walking down the street.
On some level, the poor boy was convinced- not of his own weakness, or even if he was in trouble! No, Yuushirou was absolutely certain of one thing: Whatever made shinigami healers was absolutely terrifying. He always heard Unohana san trained Zaraki taichou. Zaraki was scary. Nee sama once tried to escape the fourth division to fight hollows. Which taught him Unohana was scary. And finally, now he finds out from the murmurs of the second division guards fleeing that... the terrifying Mister Tenjiro calmly following along was a healer too! Gasp.
It was official. The healers... they were the Afterlife Yakuza!
Thunderbolts and Lightning
@candice-thunderkitty
She was trying to have a quiet day all to herself and had thought that taking to the skies would help. So she had been lurking on the low rooftops that seemed to fill the entire landscape of Seireitei and had gotten a few precious minutes of Shinigami-free moments to herself, when that…blob bouncing up and down on a roof a few houses away caught her attention.
Candice narrowed her eyes to slits as she continued to watch the blob gesture and wave excitably at her. She promptly tried to ignore the blemish that marred her peaceful view…but to no avail. It did not take long before the celadon haired woman scowled, her temple twitching angrily with annoyance.
One swift application of Hirenkyaku later, she was right in the face of the young man. The Quincy wasted no time smacking him over the back of his idiot head.
“ Who the hell are you and why are you ruining my morning view?! Get off the roof!! ”
───── THWOMP.
The soft staggering impact of her smack echoed out, muffled only by the black and purple locks that scattered from the sudden blow. Dazed eyes stared unsteadily for a moment, buying time a little mischievously before the clan guards searching for him vacated the area. Though, the soft rub and tsk under his voice pouted softly once he turned to stare at her.
“Mou, I’m Yuushirou. Y’know, the heir of the family who owns this portion of Seireitei? One of the four major clans, House of Heavenly Gears! Shihoin! Mmmph!”
Though his head mildly hurt, the mocha-skinned young man paused and exhaled with a light whine. His eyes teared up softly, and he moved just to rub a palm against his head where he was smacked out of the blue. Part of him admittedly wondered why the second division didn’t stop the blow, but they were probably a frustrated he was making their job a little bit harder.
“And most recently, a boy who was just thwacked by a quincy for jumping across my clan’s own rooftops. Sniff.”

───── One might pause, considering the trauma of having one's favorite sister vanish from soul society. The difficulty of losing your role model, the sheer weight of clan responsibilities upon him. Yet, to this boy? There was nothing but benign happiness and cheer seeing her again. It was, in the end, rather terrifying to people he had super strength for this reason. The moment this mocha boy hugged her he nearly lifted Yoruichi off her heels with a beaming grin!
Not a moment's pause to steel one's self from such a crazily trained clan heir, or even the strength of will to shunpo away in time. And with Yuushirou's speed? It was clear that hug would land anyways.
Let us pray for Yoruichi’s safe recovery.
So Mysterious
@kisukc started following you
───── The first thing one might notice is that Yuushirou had a really nice hat. A hat so nice, that it seemed to glint and shine in the sun! Rather eye-catching stripes of white and green, that stood out perfectly in a crowd. It was a pity it didn't go well with a cane sword but well, a cane would be way too big for Yuushirou's current height anyways.
Truly, Yuushirou was on his way to becoming such a mysterious shopkeeper.
Stealthy Welcome
@waspandr
The amount of joy the younger Shihoin radiated was so exuberant. It only seemed to be growing more and more as they spoke. It was almost contagious even. She had to wonder how those Elders never seemed to crack a smile around him. She had enough trouble keeping the smile off her own face earlier. He seemed to have such an odd little admiration, or perhaps a fondness towards Omaeda too. Or perhaps it was just because of the Lieutenants lavish remodels of the Second. In either case, she was certain the man would only take it as encouragement if he were here right now.
“He can be. He certainly is proud of himself and his position.” What for was beyond her. He didn’t earn the position. He was given it more than anything because of his family ties to the 2nd and the Shihouin family. Were it not for his father’s insistence she would’ve dismissed him all those years ago. That said he has significantly proven himself to be a loyal companion and somewhat competent Lieutenant.
The Captain hadn’t noticed the switch in his speech at first. It only came to dawn on her when she caught a glimpse of pink on the young lad’s cheeks before it was carefully covered by their cup. Lifting a hand to cover her mouth the Captain choked back soft laughter.
“Ahah, I assure you, Omaeda will be on his best behavior when you visit.” and If not, she’d make his life a living hell. That was a guarantee.
───── Yuushirou felt a shudder run down his spine outta nowhere, making a silent prayer to Omaeda. May the second division bro live a long a peaceful life. or at the very least, learn how to run really, really fast! Mind, lady Feng could also run really fast... maybe a moustache would be a good disguise? Yuu couldn't help but giggle softly at the thought, hips rolling in his seat at the idea. To the young man, he interacted so rarely with others outside the clan for fear of unknown entities having an influence on this impressionable boy- so it was a sad fact of life he treasured those who actively were part of his life. And to Yuushirou? Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing.
"Well, he works with you, right? Even if his family influence was used to seize a spot in the famed division, he's willing to use the financial power of his clan to further the strength of the second. Anyone who is weak in body, but still tries to help ya... is still good at heart. Weakness can be trained and overcome after all!"
Except for the old timers who took away his visitation privileges during the ryoka 'invasion' of soul society. They must be really, really bad! Nee sama was right here in the city, and they had him locked away just so he couldn't get hurt! Hmph.
“If you don’t mind me asking, how do you intend to make your mark on the Onmitsukido? Every captain wants to leave a legacy, nee chan.”
It was really hard, trying to stay an upright and dignified scion of the second, even in casual conversation. But on some level? The fact he was slipping up was at least an indication of how comfortable he felt around this taichou. Soi fon was.... great, really. She had to live up to the shadow of Yoruichi and her achievements, just as he did. And yet, for all the difficulty it posed taking over a stealth division? She didn't cower away, but strode forward to become a famous shinigami in her own right.
Yuushirou could only hope for the same chance to prove himself. Someday.
Upside Down Hello
@hirako5hinji
It wasn’t easy being the heir of one of the great four noble clans, huh. Shinji had some idea how insular the lives of these so called high-born aristocrats were – no wonder most of them were so dull and straitlaced. It was such a pity that this child, bright-eyed and inquisitive and so full of life and vigor, would one day be squeezed dry of all the personality he possessed save for the traits deemed ‘noble’ by his clan. Oh well, they all carried the burdens of their births, don’t they all?
“ Yeah, havin’ a bunch’a straitlaced guards ridin’ on yer ass the whole time’s no way‘ta enjoy life in this Realm. Yer in the world of the Livin’; ya gotta live, amirite? ”
The blond ducked into the Urahara Shoten and let those thoughts slip away, his gaze brightening even so slightly at the sight of the shifty looking shopkeeper who also happened to be his longtime friend.
“ Oi, guess who I brought with me? This ‘lil guy here needs a gigai…foradventurin’ and mischief, of course. Think ya can help him out? ”
Kisuke, as always, was more than happy to offer his services. With a jovial, singsongy call to Tessai at the back, the larger man emerged (Shinji was amused by how big his feline companion’s eyes grew then) and politely invited Yuushirou to the back of the shop to get fitted into a custom made artificial body. Shinji slipped into one of his own too in an adjacent room, before ambling back out to chat with his friend for a bit. It didn’t take long for Yuushirou to stumble out in his human shell. The youth seemed a bit rigid and clumsy in his new form, but that was understandable. They all had to learn to adapt to difference in ‘weight’ when wearing a gigai; it always seemed heavier, like there was an additional gravitational pull acting on their bodies compared to their much lighter soul forms.
The two blonds watched with barely veiled amusement as the youngest soul stiffly got used to his new body, and then Shinji spoke up, drawling.
“ Yer outta luck, Yuushirou; yer sister’s not in at the moment. Kisuke says that she’sout on one of her ‘lil romps. We can come back later, I s’pose. Ya wanna go ‘ta the beach and also have pizza, right? Let’s get goin’, then. Bet ya haven’t been ‘ta an arcade too, huh. ”
───── In some ways, it wasn't easy. Endless training, high expectations, and living in your sister's shadow. Someone who was so talented they called her a living flash *Goddess*. For all that though? Yuushirou thought he was pretty lucky, being born as the heir of such a large clan. He had the ear and good company of the second division to guide him towards growing up right, after all. Not to mention he actually had power to make sure those he cared about were safe!
Not everyone was so lucky. Yuu wasn't the type to ignore the good things his life offered, just to dwell on the difficulties thrown his way~ Sure things could be a struggle now and then, but... he'd grow into it. Surely.
"Is that so? W-well, how do you live then? Adjust? Come up with new things to make it worth the view? Or just flirt with Hiyori till everything feels better?" he teases innocently, still wide eyed and cheerful. The clan only *wished* they could take away that spark of mischevious playfulness, yet some elders already declared it a lost cause. The sweets Lady Sui Feng and Mister Omaeda snuck into the clan compound surely had nothing to do with it. Cough.
Everything was going to the beat, after all. Everything was going as smooth as a tune that was whistled when the sun was high, and you were too much of a kid to worry about the future. No regrets to muse over, no losses to lose sleep from. And Yuu, no matter how young he was? Just wanted it to stay that way. To be strong enough nobody could take those he liked away~ That was the line of thought that accompanied the mocha boy as he staggered out, nearly falling over onto his face the moment he stumbled 'free' in that gigai.
It was so weird! Like a constant pressure that meant he couldn't just dance on guard rails, or do backflips on rooftops~ By the time he stood up as proud as a tightrope walker, Yuushirou's shaky voice emerged just to refocus on Shinji's words. Wobbling all the way.
"O-oh! Well, we can always find f-fun things to do right? Arcades sound terrifying though, I heard Omaeda rage about one and how Mashiro beat the pants off him in some Street Fightah thing." the Shihoin shuddered for a moment recounting it. "He said there were so many fatalities, it must be really dangerous!"
