Marion Adnams
ca. 1945
Marion Adnams (1898 – 1995) https://palianshow.wordpress.com/2023/12/03/marion-adnams/
Marion Elizabeth Adnams (3 Dec 1898 – 24 Oct 1995) was an English painter, printmaker and draughtswoman. She is notable for her surrealist paintings, in which apparently unconnected objects appear together in unfamiliar, often outdoor, environments.
Some of her paintings depict landscapes and landmarks close to, or within, her native town of Derby. via Wikipedia

EN: On this Earth Day, we’re celebrating an ocean win with Risso’s dolphins.🐬These dolphins were once lost in large numbers as bycatch, accidentally harmed and killed in tuna fishing nets. Thankfully, strong legal regulations enacted in 2009 led to the development of more dolphin-safe tuna fishing practices in the United States, helping their populations rebound.
Today, Risso’s dolphins are a common sight in the pristine waters of Monterey Bay, often spotted by whale watching boats or even by guests on our back deck.
This species is now listed as a species of “Least Concern” according to the @IUCN–a powerful reminder that policy and action can make real change. Choosing sustainable seafood protects the ocean and people who depend on it.
Tell us what you love about these dolphins!

Happy International Kiss Day!
Have a photo of the Sicilian actor Giovanni Grasso kissing the Catalan playwright and poet Àngel Guimerà (1845-1924).
Grasso played the main character in the Sicilian version of Guimerà's world-famous play Terra Baixa (translated to English as Martha of the Lowlands). The Sicilian language tour became a big hit especially in Argentina (there was a large number of Sicilian immigrants in Argentina). Some letters between the two have been preserved, showing the very close and sweet relation between Guimerà and Grasso.
Guimerà was most likely homosexual from what we can tell by his letters, life, and his exploration of the inability to have biological children in his play The Spider (L'aranya). He is buried in the same tomb as the journalist and pro-Catalan politician Pere Aldavert. Guimerà and Aldavert lived together for half of their life and gave each other mutual powers in front of a notary on Saint Valentine's Day of the year 1910.
If you would like to learn more about Àngel Guimerà and how he was candidate for the Nobel Literature Prize 17 years in a row but blocked as part of Spain's discrimination against the Catalan language, you'll find it in my previous post linked here.
Nowadays, he remains one of the most respected and loved theatre authors in the whole history of Catalan literature.

A rather shaky long distance video, but I had to share it. We’ve been hearing the male Green Woodpecker calling for more than a week, and today it seems someone finally answered. What you see here is part of their courtship display. Värmland, Sweden (March 15, 2026).
