If Deke Shaw, delirious after surgery and high off of pain meds, can recognize consent, so can you.
Welcome back. You are on a lot of drugs. But, hey, good news … you didn’t die.
HIGH!DEKE IS THE CUTEST THING FIGHT ME
deke really takes after his nana doesn’t he
steve: tony and i arent talking because we fought pretty hard last year
quill: man that’s rough what happened
steve: well um he discovered my best friend,,, um kinda killed his parents
quill: wow that’s awful
steve: yes and then he tried to kill my friend
quill: i see, so you talked him out of it?
steve: what? no, i punched him
quill: you mean…. he was in emotional distress… and you just… punched him??
steve: … yes?
quill: im gonna go now
Me thinking about how great infinity war is gonna be, but then remembering they’re all probably gonna die.
not to be dramatic, but Okoye telling her bitch ass husband she would end him without hesitation when he tried to manipulate her changed me as a person and cured my depression.
Me: Someone needs to mistake Peter for Tony’s son
Also me: Drax is in the movie
See, though… This is the face of love.
Seems like every other trailer and tv spot has been showing Peter Quill as the comic relief. And, I mean…. He is. Total lovable dork.
But mess with his family, and he’ll fucking fight you. He’ll be in the thick of it with his family. Try and hold him back… Damned if he’s losing anybody else.
I’m here for THAT Peter fucking Quill, too, man.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
(And yes I know something bad is probably happening. That’s probably like 90% of the movie. Trying to not get hung up on it! 😊)
Dead on. I love all the humor in the trailers too, because I need constant reminders that there is going to be some goddamn levity in this thing, but I am most definitely looking forward to the “fuck with the people he loves, and he will fuck you up” Star-Lord.
Guardians of the Galaxy/Infinity War
They fooled no one the first time with that trailer edit, and they’re foolin’ nobody now.
Legend says if you stand in front of your bathroom mirror at 3 AM with the lights off and say the phrase “I don’t have a father figure” three times, you will summon Tony Stark in the flesh and he will adopt you as his own child
Drax: We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy! We got this!
Peter: [screaming in the background]
every avenger: this is my regular name and this is my Super Special Superhero name
thor: my name Thor
ok but like…. gamora and peter have like (1) one bag meanwhile my boy is carrying heavy luggage…….
he is carrying (3) three bags,,,,, (3) three!!! boy only wears pants……… how many times does he change……. how many pairs of pants does he have….. what’s in these bags???? mysteries of the galaxy
RIP all of Drax’s pants.
dont apologize for speaking or taking up space. dont apologize for disagreeing with someone. dont apologize for having a question or needing help. dont apologize for making it known that you exist.
Don’t scare me like that, coloniser!
hey wanna bet a large part of Peter’s insecurity/defensiveness around Thor is because of what happened the last time he and his friends met a god-man
I mean…that’s not entirely a crazy idea. As funny as this is, he doesn’t/shouldn’t want to jump in blindly ever agian.
i think this is very true, and now that we’re here peeling back the layers of the jokes and parsing out what’s really going on, in true guardians fashion, i have more to add, because this got me thinking this morning.
peter is going to have a lot of Complicated (definitely with a capital “c”) feelings surrounding meeting anyone who calls themselves a “god,” all to do with the fallout of the events of vol 2 – nothing that’s going to be resolved neatly within just a couple of months or anything like that. everything that happened in vol 2 heaped a whole new depth of trauma onto a guy who’s already accumulated a pretty significant collection of it over the course of his life, and, yep, four years later, peter is still going to be Dealing.
so, yeah, point one: the last time peter and the other guardians met someone who called himself a “god,” it was… ego lmao. which – YEAH. i think this goes without saying; wary/distrustful/insecure is an understandable place to be.
but there’s another layer to this: peter didn’t just meet a god-man who turned out to be the dickhead of the millennium; that god-man was his biological father. his biological father who he inherited god powers from. the last time they faced a god-man, peter had god powers to fight against him, and they still very nearly lost with all their combined efforts. so what’s going to happen this time when the god-man strikes and he has no advantage that could give them all a shot at winning?
now, peter doesn’t want those powers; he wants nothing to do with them. he wants no part of the thing that killed his mom and almost wiped out the whole universe, among other things. he’s a-okay with all those abilities being gone. but i’d imagine he wonders to himself sometimes if ego was really telling the truth about the light only existing as long as he was alive. i’d imagine he wonders sometimes, late in the middle of the night when he can’t sleep, about whether or not this thing, this awful, awful thing that he wants absolutely zero part of, is still nevertheless a part of him, if it’s just lying in wait to come back when he least expects it.
so, before i get completely off-track into tangent land, what i’m trying to say is that meeting someone like thor is definitely a hair trigger for peter for a lot of very complicated reasons. we joke about the muscles, and it is funny, but behind that, without knowing anything else about thor, it makes complete sense from peter’s perspective as to why he should feel threatened.
(now, maybe acting like a five-year-old isn’t the best way to handle it, but this is peter quill we’re talking about, lol. i’d be shocked if he handled it any other way.)
