“Nah,” Willa said waving a dismissive hand. Willa looked at the girl for a moment before asking, “Do I know you from somewhere?”

“Um, yes, that is one way to put it. But I think healing people is very admirable. I teach high school, so like 14 to 18 year olds.”

“Fair enough,” Willa chuckled before stepping away to attempt her phone call. However, after it failed, she walked back over and held it out, “Thanks, anyway.”

Lying on her back, Aspen stared up at the blue sky that was cast over Halifax. For once, she had focused on one thought: how grateful she was for her yoga mat which was preventing her from washing sand out of her hair later that day. Since the last full moon, it seemed that she was having trouble controlling her thoughts, a new issue for her. She had even found herself distracted at work causing her a new level of stress as her mistakes could seriously injure or even kill someone. Again. 

Aspen decided that morning that maybe a bit of yoga and meditation at the beach would disinfect her mind. Clad in a sports bra and a pair of athletic shorts that made her feel a bit insecure, she attempted to block out the slight breeze that caused goosebumps to arise all over her body. Aspen closed her eyes, breathed deep, and began to push out all of her thoughts. After a few moments, a wave of calm fell upon her as she listened to the water crash against the shore. Aspen’s state of nirvana had taken her to another place, her mind was elsewhere. Unbeknownst to her, she had become a bit too relaxed and sand began to rise around her.
