ANNIE NGUYEN x DUBIÉ
Q. Adjective that best describes you
A. Pragmatic
Q. What is the first thing you think of when you hear this word?
A. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of "pragmatic" is the symmetry in architecture and design. Something that just is and makes sense. I often find that through the balance of shapes, light, colors, and materials.
Q. What drives you? Is it a concrete place, or rather a quest for a feeling?
A. What truly motivates me is a feeling of curiosity. I need to know why, how, and understand...everything. It can be extremely annoying at times for the people around me but I can't help it. I believe that being curious has driven me to continually be open, to question, and to try and move forward whether it be in my work or personally.
Q. Do you ever look to shoes to achieve a certain mood/attitude?
A. Yes, I do! Sometimes my outfit is centered around the shoes! I believe shoes say a lot about you. I feel like shoes, much like the clothes you wear, can make you carry yourself a certain way. However, what makes shoes different is that they are like the finishing touch to your outfit. They are like punctuation. A boot sends a very different message than a sneaker.
Q. Select a pair of shoes from Dubié’s FW20 lookbook in which you see yourself wearing on a daily basis. Why this pair?
A. Cuadrado Short Boot in black. They're sleek and nostalgic. I particularly like the square toe and square heel. It's not too high and comfortable to walk around in and goes with just about anything. (Also the added height makes it possible to wear my long pants I haven't hemmed yet..!)
Q. Are you a slow or fast walker?
A. I think it depends on what music I may be listening to at the time I'm out. Generally, people say I walk too fast. (I just want to get to where I'm going quickly!)
Q. What is your guilty pleasure?
A. I think a guilty pleasure that may not be so guilty anymore is listening to pop music. I love it.
