The officer let out a soft smile as her now date partner teased her so casually as she came out of the apartment, turning around to walk by her side as they made their way to the street. "I don't mind passing by a bakery for today, maybe I'll treat myself to some sweets when we're at it." She mentioned in her relaxed motion, before looking aside at Riley and letting out a little chuckle.

"If anything, I was thinking of buying you something... Maybe 'Fancier' isn't the right word, but definitely more formal" She teased back, before clearing her throat a bit. "At the very least, something that matches together with what I'll wear, unless you're comfortable enough as is" She continued, her current outfit being decent enough for a date during the day, but even Zhu Yuan would probably want a change of clothes when the night came and whichever holiday they were celebrating kicked in.

She's been so hard at work and caught on with papers... She probably already forgot what it was supposed to be.

"I’m not gonna complain about bein’ your pretty pretty dress up darlin’, but Eridu-Holi's kinda all about ruinin' the outfits y'bring." Of course, Holi was traditionally a springtime holiday. Couldn't say why the Hindi expats had taken to a late summer celebration, but it certainly brightened up the sweltering days. I guess that shows how little I know about these kinds of celebrations, I was already thinking of a summer dress to wear for the night" Zhu Yuan admitted rather bashfully, she had so many matters of varying importance to go through every day, that she was starting to forget what "fun" truly meant. "Good thing I have you at my side to guide me like always" She continued, turning it into a little tease given their often work together.

However, as Riley figured out Zhu Yuan's intentions, her face got a little bright red as she had been not just found out, but also called out like that in public. "W-well... Yeah... You were my first option, and you happened to also be free at the time..." She cleared her throat a little, the embarrasment also making her almost slip that she didn't know who else to ask, clearly not used to having free time, but at least... She just wanted to be grateful with Riley a little, that's all.

Mona's usual frown stayed on her face for a little longer than usual as she watched her... Client? Definitely more than acquaintance at this point, and if things kept going as she accidentally predicted, much much more... In any case, she was about to relax as she figured that Riley would leave without much hassle, leaving her at peace with her studies, before she heard that familiar tone of hers.

She asked, a little suspicious of Riley's current intentions, maybe the fact that she knew what this would eventually lead up to kept her on edge, but on the other hand... Free food... AND! The place sounded interesting, she guessed, having never stepped into that side of town or near it, really.

The astrologist was about to protest, of course she needed a reason, Mona was busy and time was... Well, maybe not money, but it was still important. Yet as she could tell that Riley wasn't going to let her arm be twisted, or leave until Mona complied, the mage just let out a deep sigh as she mentioned the many things to do in the institute, things that Mona had less than zero interest in.

"...You're right... I guess I do need to get some fresh air after all this..." Riley would be forgiven for making a wish after seeing this, Mona just getting up and doing as someone else told her? Unbelievable, and yet there she went, guiding her... Inviter... To her own little room.

"Don't get your hopes up, however, it's not like you'll have much to choose from." Mona mentioned with a bit of a frustrated sigh, of course she didn't think too much about clothing, not like she could afford it anyways, besides that... oddly eye catching witchy outfit she always wore in her own place.

"I could tell you to let me be during these important moments for me, but alas, I already know it's not going to work..." She sighed, moving some stuff from her desk to start her little divination ritual, as harsh and cold as she often sounded, she just wanted to do her best with the job she was given, so priorities were just priorities for her, as she looked at the visitor approaching her to take a seat in front of her. As the visions came, so did a small sense of relief. "Well, the good news to begin with, your head will indeed be above water, but still rather wet... Odd..." She commented, her face getting some confusion as that last part stopped being an analogy, what could it mean...?

"I see you're happy, quite happy, enjoying yourself indeed, it's the best day of your life, apparently... Now why would that be?" She said a little more out loud, before letting out a sudden gasp.

"O-Oh..." She oppened her eyes suddenly. "That was... Quite the development. Huh..." Flustered, her face was all red, her heart suddenly racing. Suddenly those perfectly accurate predictions weren't a blessing anymore, as she had seen something quite troubling for her, specifically.

No way in any sort of hell she would be able to admit that, however...

A practitioner of the most woo-woo nonsense form of divination, even from the compromised perspective of someone clued in to the secrets of the world. Sure, the moon could affect someone, but that was because of tidal gravity sweeping you out to sea. Sure, the sun could change your life, but that was because it could burn you so red that your summer was over. But Mona -- she'd predicted such specific things that she was either the cause, or the real deal. Paranoia suggested the former, but the astrologist's modest means suggested the latter. It was nicer to believe that it was just genuine passion, pursuing her bliss without compromise.

Now, that lack of compromise meant she was in a ten-floor apartment complex deep into town, and didn't like accepting payment for doing work (so Riley needed to be creative with her bribes), but still. Better than being cooped up in an office all day because you just looked at the college majors list and saw Accounting at the top. Stepping into the apartment, Riley set down the bag of groceries as if it were completely natural and not even worthy of note.

Off-duty, the usual calm and collected officer walked her way to the usual contractor with her job, but this time, dressing much more casually, no weapons, no tools, just her and a little bag for things in case she wanted to take something home.

Yet, considerate as always, she made sure to schedule some time with Riley beforehand, figuring she shouldn't have her services needed at such specific date, but it was the right thing for her to let her fellow workaholic know in advance that they had plans for the day.

That's right, it was finally a holiday, and no amount of protesting would allow the dutiful Zhu Yuan to work when no one else would. It was the perfect time to cool down and enjoy themselves. And if anything, it was now her own way of working to make sure Riley was taking good care of herself as well.
