Two of Shields

Once upon a time, a group of soldiers was ordered to take out a group of beast tribe warriors seen near their home. The bard's role was to play their song to support their teammates in battle. While not actively fighting, the bard's song would make them a part of every swing their allies made. In one turn of events, the bard carries out their role, content to go along with the plan and help their team survive the fight. In the other, the bard refuses to take part, withholding their music from their comrades because they do not wish to be a part of this fight.

In the Divine position, this card is about supporting your team, collaborating, and executing on a plan. This is a great card when launching into a new venture with others. However, it can also indicate conformity and blindly following the group when you should be considering the actions you are taking.

In the Reversed position, this card shifts to individual action, breaking away from the team, and disagreeing with the group. Your methods do not align with the rest of the group’s plan so you are actively stepping aside. If you are critical to this plan, you might even be sabotaging it. Reflect on why you aren’t taking part.

Ace of Shields

On this card there is a sunny landscape, covered in welcoming grass and flowers. The sky is bright blue with pure white clouds. In the center of the clearing is a large earth crystal, shields being the suit of earth.

In the Divine position, this field is welcoming you in, giving you the chance to participate in this beautiful day. This is a message of manifestation, opportunity, prosperity, and carpe diem. This card indicates opportunity has come knocking. You have the choice to take it or leave it, but the opportunity is definitely an alluring one. There is nothing here regarding how this opportunity will turn out, just that it is there. As an Ace, this card only looks to the start of the journey.

In the Reversed position, you are being kept from this field somehow, either due to lack of time or planning, or maybe it just isn't the opportunity you need right now. This card indicates an opportunity passing you by, either by choice, something you did, or it just not being an option. This opportunity is still an attractive one, but it is best not to dwell. This is just how things have turned out. Or, you are risking missing out if you do not act.

Card Meanings Glossary Incoming!

Hey all! I know some of you have shown interest in reading up on the cards in my deck at your own leisure. I’ve been holding off as, honestly, I’m still ‘learning’ all the possible interpretations of a card based on their positions in a spread. What I work off mid-reading is a very basic description and definition, whereas I want the online glossary to have a much better description of the story I am trying to portray on each card. I do intend on one day completing artwork for these cards, and when I do I want the art to look like constellations. Each constellation will tell a story you can pull meaning from. This isn’t going to be a fast process, as I’m typing up these small stories a few at a time. I’ll also inevitably be doubling back on a few to tweak definitions and descriptions, to better differentiate similar cards as I go. However, my hope is that you’ll be able to use this impending glossary to better meditate on any readings I give and pull your own meanings from the cards.

We’re going to be starting with the minor arcana as I’ll be posting the major arcana (aka the canon cards) on the first day of the month they coincide with.

Happy August 1! In game, this is the start of the Fourth Umbral Moon, a month ruled by Lightning and Rhalgr. Rhalgr's card is The Spire in Reverse, so I thought I'd share a few details on this card for the day.

The Spire in Reverse

Byregot and Rhalgr picture on the Spire. Byregot the Builder works in his tower, coming up with various creations. Rhalgr, his father, throws his levinbolts at the tower, trying to destroy these creations. Many would take this as a bad omen, but Rhalgr's message is a bit more positive. He reminds us that sometimes destruction is necessary for new creation to take root.

Times right now might be tumultuous, but by staying strong through the chaos, you'll learn new things that are critical to your journey. Now is the time to not be afraid and to take risks; endure the hardships because it makes one stronger.

F.A.Q.: “What happened to the free readings you were doing?”

Honestly, I wish I could keep doing these readings for free. I established my parlor with the idea of running solely on tips because I don’t want anyone to feel a price tag puts FFXIV community events out of reach. And those of you who have been tipping have been super generous. I appreciate everyone’s generosity so far. However, as news of my services has spread, we suddenly are running into a space issue and line size I can’t manage on open tarot nights. Our team can’t give the best in fortune telling experiences as we are now with the room so crowded. As such, we’ve decided that we need to expand our location’s size, and this means gathering funding by charging for readings.

If you are in a position where you can’t afford a reading but you really want one, feel free to reach out. Some of the best “payments” people have ever given me were items, rather than money.

Uses: This spread is to help give you insight into your love life as a whole. If you are having sticking points in your relationships, or just generally stagnating.

Notes:Unlike other romance related spreads I offer, this one often turns out to be more useful, as I only have to sense information on one person as opposed to two.

Uses: This spread is useful to gain insight into your relationship with another person, whether that is a coworker, a friend, or a love relationship.

The Seer’s Cross

Uses: This spread can offer input on a situation as well as internal and external influences. It’s a little different from the general guidance spread, but these differences can be helpful to some.

Seven Day Spread

Uses: This spread gives you an idea of how things are going to go over course of the week, starting with the current day.

The Card Spread:

Notes: This spread usually works best when it is used at the start of a seven day time period where something is expected to happen. Sundays or Mondays are seen as good days for this spread, but Tuesdays can also be good, as they are reset days for the FFXIV servers. If you have some seven day timeframe that is more personally relevant, such as a vacation or the like, this also can apply there.
