The Swimming Abilities of Apes//Tarzan&Ariel
Ariel looked at her father nervously. “His name is Tarzan," she murmured. “And daddy?" Ariel bit her lip.
"I love him." She swam slowly backwards and snatched him away, bringing him closer, holding his hand tightly. He was nervous, she could tell, but her heart was in her throat and she felt like she was going to throw up. Even underwater, her palms were slicked with nervous sweat.
There was a moment of breathless silence held courteously around the room, and then Triton’s voice boomed through the chambers. Ariel shut her eyes in nervous anticipation. “W-welcome."
She peeked one open, surprised. Welcome? She didn’t understand. He wasn’t yelling at her? Or him? Triton, very regally, held his cool. “This is the boy?" He asked Ariel timidly. She nodded curtly, her red hair flying up around her head and floating coolly across her line of sight. She pushed it back.
Triton swam forward slowly and offered a hand. “Daddy?" Ariel said softly.
"I’m so sorry for running off like that. It was wrong of me." Triton looked at Ariel, his eyes swimming with tears. “Oh Ariel….I was always so concerned with keeping you safe but I never considered…I’m sorry." She threw herself at him, hugging him tightly. “It’s okay, Daddy. I’m sorry. I won’t do it again. I swear." She blinked a few times. “Daddy, there’s a catch. Tarzan….," Ariel gulped. “Tarzan is a human." Ariel watched his eyes widen. “I used a little magic. But that brings me to my request."
The redhead took a deep, calming breath. “Is there a way…that you can make me mermaid and human? Depending on whether I’m on land or not? Please. I won’t ever run away again."
Triton paused for a long moment. The fish in the room held their breaths and breathed a sigh as Triton slowly murmured “yes. Do you promise never to leave again?" Ariel couldn’t nod any more exuberantly then she already was. “Yes. Yes, daddy! I can. I swear I will never ever run away again, oh thank you! Thank you thank you thank you!" The red head could barely contain herself.
--So... everything is alright then.
At least, it sounded so.
Bliss was etched unto that of a belted visage, the currents of a gentle stream ebbing around the male's emerald fins, as he peeked out to glimpse upon the two that chatted. Ariel was the spitting image of anxiety--constantly averting her gaze, merely hoping that her father would not do anything to sever their relationship. Or, he suspected as much. But in the end, the father remained happy; joyous that his daughter had returned, and seemingly at ease with the fact that she was in love. And for Tarzan--well, things went as perfectly as they could. Orbs of emerald flickered lo and between the tresses of ruby upon his lover's crown, and to the gray of her father--
...Should I come out now?
Don't wish to interrupt a tender moment...
And even so, did the man have a right to do so? According to what Ariel had mentioned, her father remained to be king of this place. And if so, Tarzan would think to tread carefully upon the borders of respect; treating the merman as how he would treat Kerchek. Or an effect similar to one, anyway.
