Chiron â wondered among the wanderers.
In Greek mythology story has been told of a centaur being born to a father Kronos (Saturn) and mother nymph Philyra daughter of Oceanus and Tethys. Kronos deceived Philyra by turning himself into a horse, as she has changed herself into a mare, and as they mated, child was born into this union.
Chiron had body and legs of the horse, and torso and arms of a man, and as such abandoned by mother who was horrified when seeing him for the first time.
Found by shepherd and taken to Apollo the Sun God, who became his foster father who thought him, music, divination prophecy, poetry, healing, wisdom and justice. Apollo was known as paragon of youth, beauty, and offered divine protection against wild animals and diseases, where as his sister Artemis, has imparted the sacred knowledge of healing properties of plants.
Under the wing of Apollo, Chiron has grown into a wise man, prophet, physician, teacher and musician, and became mentor to many Greek heroes, including Achilles, Hercules and Asklepios teaching them, riding, archery, hunting, arts of war, medicine , ethics, religious rituals and beginnings of natural science.
The Medicine is in the Wound âˇđŠš
As per one of the anecdotes, Chiron becomes âWounded Healerâ when Hercules ends up in fight with centaurs, and one of the Hercules arrows that were imersed into poisones blood of monster Hydra, strucks Chiron (the immortal beast, which underworld of our own shadow side becomes if ignored or repressed, whos venom and blood Hercules used to dipp in the arrows).
Threfore, the wound represents the what is being repressed, and suffering caused by the venom of the Hydra emerges within ourselves.
Chiron getting a mortal wound, enabled him to remain alive, although in great suffering as being a demi-god, he was not able to end the suffering but stayed as a remainer for a long life.
Chiron started his journey, of own healing, developing appropriate life circumstancesk and spiritual practices.
Eventually, Chiron was relelased from centuries of pain and suffering while teaching others to his wisdom and healing journey, learning himself that wound can only be healed by itâs cause.
It is often our own suffering is âseenâ by someone who can truly put himself or herself in our place, or vice versa, that transfeormation and release occurs.
