The Crucible: Arthur Miller (( @Torinity ))
Something... unusual? Trinity found that she couldn’t recall what had happened to her before she found herself here. Everything —— truly everything —— seemed to have been wiped from her. A dark hand had come into her mind and scrambled it all about, leaving behind nothing in its path.
"I —— I’m not sure." She began, breathily, in an airy and almost unreal tone. "I… can’t remember, Labine-san."
Finally, Trinity began to pluck herself from the ground. It took up a great deal of her strength, and she stood shakily on her own heels. Shakily enough that she had to whip out her hands and reach for the librarian, just to keep herself from collapsing.
“I… I apologize —— I’m… a bit scrambled.” And her hands slip from the other woman’s shoulders entirely.
"Oh, that's fine Meganekko-san. Sometimes my visitors don't remember." She's slightly disappointed that she couldn't learn anything about the lady's home world from her own experience, but that isn't a very pressing matter. The most important thing is explaining where she is, first of all.
"So basically you're in a pocket dimension between the cross section of all the separate universes which I created with my mind somehow and something in your universe knocked you out of space / time and you ended up here anyway this dimension takes the form of a huge library for some strange reason and it contains all the information of every visitor that has come here except a lot of the library isn't accessible due to various reasons but somewhere in here there's a book that can tell you how to get back to your own universe I have a computer a distance away from here that could look up the location for you but it's rather dangerous to get to --"
At this point she pauses briefly, her voice becoming slightly more hesitant.
"And it might take a while to find it."
This is the part that upsets her the most -- her visitor's relief at having a way to escape from the library. Although she loves the library, she loves to hear the stories her visitors tell even more. But they are rarely ever interested in doing so; they're focused on getting home.
But that's exactly what I'm here for. Right?
The Library: Book Cemetery
Grimoires all come from books; most often, they are made from a being within the book that is powerful enough to manifest (though the process of manifesting makes them considerably weaker, but dangerous nonetheless). If the book they come from is destroyed, they aren't affected -- however, if they are destroyed, their book is as well, and ends up in the Book Cemetery.
The Book Cemetery is filled with "broken" books -- water damage, broken spines, ripped up pages and covers, etc. These books litter the ground, or are stacked haphazardly in cobbled together piles. There are few that occupy the bookshelves, and those that are are disorganized and sloppily arranged.
The Cemetery is currently in the control of Labine, though she rarely ever visits it. Some of them she herself has contributed to, but only due to self-defense; the vast majority comes from her visitors, who trek out on their own through the library, their fate unknown.
On the odd occasion that Labine does visit, she is merely paying her respects. She always makes a point to tidy up before leaving, though every time she returns it is just as disarrayed as it was before she cleaned it up.
Feels like home

Discomfort burns across Trinity’s skin, making itself known through the blush on her cheeks, the way her hands rise up to her face. Flattery has never exactly gone well for the woman before —— something about being looked at like this, hearing a voice like that… it sends a general sense of anxiety throughout her.
“I-I’m afraid you can’t… i-it is my jacket, after all. I need it!”
"Oh, I guess that makes sense."
She blinks curiously at the female in front of her. She feels like there's something she forgot to do, but couldn't quite place.
"Ah, right! My name's Labine! I actually live here, but I guess I'm also the librarian. Did something unusual happen before you came here? Most of my visitors here say something strange had happened."
Although she is a very... aloof young lady, her responsibilities to the people who end up here are never forgotten. Besides, she likes hearing the stories of her visitors and how they wound up at the cross section of universes -- if they remember how they got here at all, that is. Occasionally they forget exactly what happened to bring them to this place, but Labine wasn't beyond helping them find out. After all, this is the Library of Everything; the book containing the information sought might be hard to find, but it's in here somewhere.
The Crucible: Arthur Miller (( @Torinity ))
M-Meganekko?
Trinity had reached out for her scepter, her fingers outstretched. But the girl pauses all of a sudden, her face… opening up, in a way. If that was the proper way to describe it.
Perhaps she should say something? “E-Excuse me. May I… have that back?”
"Ah, sure."
She hands it back, but continues to look at it curiously. It's certainly a weird object, in more than one reason. Not only did she have a weird sensation when touching it, but this was the only time that a handheld object passed into the library. Furniture, clothes, and appliances end up here on some occasions, through the medium of appearing from various books, but she's never had a scepter pass through. But that's not really important right now.
This woman is absolutely adorable.
"Meganekko-san! I want your jacket!"
The Crucible: Arthur Miller (( @Torinity ))
Where… was she? Trinity sat on the ground, hands scraped against the floor. Her landing had not been a soft one — that was the sort of thing that happened, when you tumbled so fully and completely, without any knowledge of what had been the cause of your fall. Trinity was many things — Magical Girl one of them, but psychic she was not.
A fresh stream of panic streamed through her once she realized that she couldn’t see the Muchorin. The Nox was very important to her, and the thought of losing it was enough to make her heart race inside of her chest.
But! There it was — right there, right in front of her. All that panic for nothing. Trinity began to reach for it, fingers outstretched, and…
"A-Ah.
Who’s there?”
"Ah, I got it, Meganekko-san!" She reaches down to hand the woman the scepter, and is immediately struck with an overwhelming sense of familiarity -- the same kind she feels when holding her own wand, but different at the same time.
"...."
Ah. She totally forgot you asked her a question.
*Nerdgasm*
Holy shit. This is awesome.

A Study in Scarlet
The more and more he studied this young girl, the more perplexing she became. She didn’t know to whom this massive collection belonged? She was either incredibly naive or hiding something, yet it was most likely the former.
The fact that she pressed the notion of this meeting intrigued Homes. In what odd world can one’s profession be determined at a simple glance? Unless, of course, she was judging by his attire….
"The name’s John Homes, miss, and I can’t say I’ve been to any meetings recently."
"Hmm...."
She stared hard at the man's outfit, trying to decipher another reason to wear the outfit. She's sure there wouldn't be another reason to wear such a thing! He's either lying, which Labine saw no reason for him to do such a thing -- or the other thing.
But of course!
The only possible explanation would be that he was at a business meeting long ago, and while in the meeting various things occurred, leaving him homeless and without alternate attire -- forcing him to make due with his business suit, which he keeps in pristine condition as a form of escapism. Her lips begin to tremble as she starts to sniffle, rubbing a tear out of her eye.
"I'm so sorry for your loss! You can stay here as long as you'd like!"
Three Books of Occult Philosophy: Heinrich Cornelius (( @notquiteahero ))
The alchemist had longed to see a library again. No, not the hoax of a library that was the NOL- but an actual building filled with rows of books. Unfortunately, most of the buildings like those were off-limits to those who were not an actual part of the NOL. Perhaps Trinity could have gotten access had she bothered proving that she was who she was, but not only would that draw too much attention to herself, most wouldn’t believe her to be the real deal anyway.
Just as she was longing to find herself in a library once more, ironically, she found one.
She wasn’t certain how she had gotten here, oddly enough, and she was feeling rather unsteady on her feet. But the sight of books seemingly endlessly lining the selves made her slack-jawed, a look that didn’t suit her delicate features very well. However, appearances weren’t one of her primary concerns, and having snapped out of her daze, she was pulling one of the books off of the shelves and carefully flipping through it.
It really was a real book- this entire situation wasn’t merely a figment of her imagination. At least, she was 85 percent sure it was real. She gave her arm a pinch.
Now she was 100 percent sure.
"This place… it’s amazing!"
Trinity shut the book and looked around once more. She positively adored books, each work of fiction containing various different worlds crafted by various people that remained unexplored, and the alchemist was sure it would take her five lifetimes to get through even half of these. The idea of reading them all was certainly preposterous, so all there was for her to do was to ask the librarian which ones they would recommend her to read first.
Hopefully they wouldn’t suggest the “faerie” one they had been reading earlier. If there was one good thing about the Black Beast, it was that it obliterated nearly every copy of the cursed piece of literature.
But first off, Trinity had to find the librarian, and from the looks of it, this place was empty. And she had manners far too good to just yell and ask if anyone was around, especially in a library. Besides, she wasn’t the yelling type either.
As she rounds the corner towards the visitor's normal entrance, she spots the young lady happily browsing the titanic collection of books. Hurrying over to the lady, the first thing she notices is her bright outfit.
Then, she sees the heart-shaped staff on the ground.
For some reason, it seems oddly familiar, reminiscent of how Labine feels when using her magic. She doesn't pay this much mind except for a slight curiosity, but makes a note to ask about it later.
"Welcome to my library! Can I wear your coat?!"
The Crucible: Arthur Miller (( @Torinity ))
Labine didn't even have time to change out of her maid outfit when the familar thunk of several million books being added to her collection resounded through the library, signaling the appearance of a new visitor within the walls. She had been dusting the books and shelves for... well, a long while, since time didn't really have a hold here in this space between dimensions. She briefly considered changing out into something more decent, but she had to make sure to be there when her visitor woke up. She made the mistake of not being there once. She won't be doing so again.
Upon arriving at the location her visitors always appear, the first thing she notices isn't the familiar, magical aura that Labine herself gave off. It wasn't the odd heart-shaped staff that lie next to her visitor. Indeed, it was something much more urgent; something much more obvious.
"Kawaii! I wonder if she'll let me wear her coat?!"
A Study in Scarlet
sorta-like-holmes:
Homes went from pleasant to serious as well and gathered his surroundings once more. As his eyes zoomed from shelf to shelf, he could tell he was in no ordinary library. Many of the shelves were dusty, as though they hadn’t been visited in a while. Any library of this caliber was bound to have visitors often, as well, and the entrance would be the most popular spot. However, there wasn’t another soul in sight.
And this Labine girl who struggled to remember her name was peculiar, as well. She claimed to live in the massive edifice, so Homes just assumed her belongings and quarters were elsewhere. What he needed was information from the source. And who better to ask than the source herself?
"So this collection… does it belong to you?"
She ponders the question for a bit. All of these books were either from her own father's collection or were added by her visitors. Whether or not they're in her possession now or not is absolutely lost on the odd girl.
"I have no idea!"
She suddenly remembers that she completely neglected to ask her visitor's name, which is usually one of the first things she asks -- before asking about the world they had come from, at least.
"Ah! I completely forgot to ask for your name!...Also, what was your meeting about?"
