i like when ppl draw jaybin with the white streak, or have that section of his hair lighter/more grey. its v cute
a trope ive come to hate:
character a wrongs/hurts character b. character b is, rightfully, upset. character b reacts accordingly. character a is upset by character b's reaction. other characters tell character b to apologise. character b begins to think "maybe i should apologise," even though they have nothing to apologise for.
bad thing happens. character b is hurt, or something. while character b is in recovery, character a visits. this can go two ways, both of which i hate anyway:
option 1: character b apologises for being JUSTIFIABLY UPSET and then having a NORMAL REACTION to being wronged/hurt. ONLY THEN does character a apologise for hurting them in the first place. the story is framed as if they were both EQUALLY in the wrong.
option 2: character b is the ONLY one to apologise. character a never apologises for hurting character b, and never faces consequences. the story is frames as if ONLY CHARACTER B was ever in the wrong.
i dont want the story to end with a complete lack of forgiveness, i just want it to not treat character b like they were also in the wrong for being justifiably upset over being wronged/hurt. like, if the story just acknowledges that, then i dont care if they have character b apologise! just dont treat it as if the victim is just as bad as the perpetrator just because their reaction to being hurt then hurt character a in turn!

i'm currently drawing a size comparison chart for my batfam subnautica au but it's not gonna be ready to post for a hot minute yet, so here's everyone's size in comparison to each other
for reference, link to the post listing everyone's species. i wanted to keep everyone's size pretty comparable to their species, but the mers are generally bigger/longer because of the "human" torsos haha.
tied for the largest are alfred, jason, and cass. they're all approx. the same size, being a reefback, reaper, and ghost leviathan respectively. head to tail, alfred is the longest. by just the "human" torso, jason's the largest. of the three, cass has the smallest "human" half, and (comparatively) the longest tail. she and jason are around about the same length. (edit: just for clarification, because in game adult ghosts are much bigger than reapers and reefbacks- cass is not quite fully grown yet and is a bit small for a ghost leviathan anyway, and jason is HUGE for a reaper lol. this is based on my regular height headcanons for them. and alfred is much larger because he's much older. reefbacks strike me as indeterminate growers.)
next largest is damian. he's a bit more than half the length of the other three leviathan mers. fully grown, he'll be the largest of everyone.
jumping down in size again is dick. he's around half the size of damian, and is the largest non-leviathan. next largest is barbara, who's about 2/3 dick's size, her head would be about the size of bruce's torso lol.
then finally, we have tim, steph, and duke, who are all approx. human size. length-wise, steph is the biggest, then tim, then duke. duke is only "smallest" because mesmers are pretty compact.

yeah this is my "im playing subnautica 2 heres whats goin on" post now lol
yknow how i said in my last reblog that i was tempted to turn off autosave, dump all my stuff, and let these two leviathans eat me? yeah im doin that LMAO
got eaten by the collector, came back to scan it, managed to distract it w/ my tadpole and got the scan, and i didnt even lose the tadpole 😎
the other leviathan in the in-dev area may not have a name already, or at least not one thats implemented in the game. when i scanned the collector, the prompt said "scan collector leviathan". this one just says "scan". and also scanning her is NOT easy. she sends the smaller ones after you and they can kill you even in the tadpole, and they are FAST. i tried to just back up out of the in-dev area, and that worked...for a few seconds. the barrier stopped it, but then it managed to like, i guess glitch? through, assuming this leviathan isnt fully implemented and therefore isnt supposed to leave the in-dev area yet. i kept tryna scan the small one that was aggrod on me, but in all of this, it managed to push me under the geometry of the map LMAOOOO im currently just. in the ground. i cant just swim back out, im gonna hafta unstuck XD ill try scanning it a couple more times, but this one im not too focused on getting the scan. tbh i dont even rly think she has a databank entry yet
but, i will say, being stuck under the map let me get closer to the big one (because im no longer technically in her aggro area so she is, therefore, no longer aggrod at me) and i was correct, she is fucking AWESOME
edit: i did manage to get the scan. the shiver leviathan! if im interpreting the databank entries correctly, shes this games void leviathan? ough thats so sick. shes so cool. i love her
man, both markipliers and jacksepticeyes subnautica 2 lets plays have come up on my youtube recommended and i DESPERATELY wanna watch both of them but im playing through the game completely blind and i have NO IDEA how much progress im making LMAO
im definitely not at the complete beginning, but i also have no idea if the progress ive made is a good enough chunk to avoid spoilers from their hour+ long videos. i dunno how much editing theyre doing and how much of their own progress theyre making and showing us

its called "cobb can move" and its free on itco.io. im not gonna say much else cuz its a pretty small game, its got a 7 level story mode and an endless mode. its pretty self explanatory once youre playing. and man it is SO fun
it does have jumpscares, but theyre not crazy loud fnaf type scares. set the volume based on the title screen music and youll be set

quite possibly the last thing i ever expected to show up on my youtube recommended page was real case footage taken by rescuers during the nutty putty cave incident. theres no video footage of john jones, but there are a few previously unseen photos of him where he was trapped, which may be upsetting or confronting. watch at your own discretion.
this is a case ive heard about many times, its hard not to if you know anything about caving and/or cave incidents. its a tragic case, a man trapped in one of the most terrifying situations i can imagine, and may john jones rest in peace. the thing about these documentaries, though, is that any sort of graphic or map of the cave is 2d. you can visualise the incident from descriptions and maps, but its a whole other beast to see the rescue efforts, and the space they were working in, and where john was trapped. it just. really puts into perspective just how difficult the situation was, for everyone involved.

it was a time travel fix it type fic, where jack drake gets sent back in time after his death and steps up to be a better/more present parent to tim, and becomes a co-parent to bruces kids too. im pretty sure it was leading to/implied jack/bruce(/janet? i think) if that helps
i dont remember if it was a single ongoing work or a series and i dont remember any specific tags so im struggling to find it
update: the fic i was looking for was titled "hit the road, jack" and seems to have completely disappeared from ao3. its not just locked, im logged into ao3, id still see it. like unless the titles changed, its just gone. what a fucking bummer, dude :(
