There are still a handful of students milling around the room, but nobody approaches Rosé. Denali hesitates. Is it suspicious? No, surely not, students ask their lecturers questions all the time, it’s their job to be helpful. She nods to herself and pushes her stuff into her backpack before flinging it over one shoulder and gripping it tight.

Rosé looks up before she can even open her mouth.

“Nope.”

“What? You don’t even know what I was going to ask!” Denali sputters, cheeks filling with a soft pink.

Rosé gathers her laptop and papers into the crook of her arm and gives Denali a stern look. “This is not the place.”

“Just tell me,” Denali pushes, “Did you know?”

“I should be asking you the same thing,” Rosé hisses, but she catches herself when a few students walk past. She returns their wave with a perfect smile.

“I didn’t know, I swear,” Denali says, voice low. “I didn’t even know who taught this class.”

“Aw, you didn’t look me up? Most of the students do.”

“Most of the students don’t know your thread count.”
