I've never made a pinned introductory post before so let's give it a go (I'm basically just stealing points from my twt bio)

I'm Atlas

I use any pronouns

I'm, first and foremost a PATRIOTIC Bostonian American, even though I don't live in Boston at the current moment womp womp Less importantly I am Filo + Slavic Jew + German as far as ethnicity goes

I'm a big fan of international politics and American politics and this has manifested as me drawing and writing Hetalia content, that couldn't actually probably be farther from actual Hetalia because I've only watched five episodes of the show and read a few manga panels, my boyfriend got me into it :(

I'm really into Russian history but since it is a country with such a long and violent history I do not even know the half of it

I'm a writer for a webtoon series I'm collaborating with my boyfriend on, it's not out yet but it's about an alternate history in the 1960s with some magic shenanigans

I'm also I think a liberal socialist? I'm not acquainted with all the terms despite my main twitter being based on Left-wing ET

I have a really long classic lit reading list which includes a lot of Dostoevsky, the rest of War and Peace, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and Ulysses

and I'm majoring in Biology

I think that's all I need to say but I'll update if there's more

Hey guys I need some advice

I'm planning on doing an interactive Hetalia au as my time becomes more free for quarter finals but the problem is I have no idea how to write an interactive au. I'm planning on drawing and writing it but I don't quite get how to do viewer response or even how to promote it, if someone could give me some advice that would be great!

The steady beep of its radio transmitter spurred both wonder and anxiety, for little Sputnik completed a full orbit every 96 minutes, meaning no part of Earth was inaccessible anymore. Everyone was vulnerable to weapons. To warfare. To destruction.

The prompt was king and knight and I wanted to try making something that felt a bit fairytale-esque. I got very into it 😭

The chess pieces they’re holding represent the other; Alfred has the king and Ivan has the knight. This drawing is meant to be about how Ivan, the king, is losing control because of his feelings. Even though he has supreme authority over Alfred (and like, everything, he’s king), his grip on the chess piece is slack and his expression is a bit nervous. Conversely, Alfred holds his piece easily between his fingers (kind of visualizing how he has Ivan wrapped around his finger) with a hand over his heart in a show of mock-respect. The little stars represent sparks but mostly I just think they look pretty. Anyway that’s the idea, happy holidays!

Short story I wrote in notes about one of my ocs because the Trolley Problem game on steam wouldn't let me sleep

Can one ever truly be a good person? Only bad people ask themselves that question. Only people with blood on their hands; with sins hanging fresh on their breath. Only those planning on doing something awful, or facing the recoil of that loaded gun.

Novikov stared at the mark that hellfire had left on his wrist, the twisted injury from that recoil. It was a proof of his sins. So many young men sent to die under his order. So many young men lied to on the daily, lied to to keep filling in to volunteer for service. Could society function without lies? As long as it had existed, society had been built by those who could tell people what they wanted to hear, even without means to deliver. Leaders could not fix crime. Doctors could not stop plague. Farmers could not end famine. If the war machine was raging on, was Novikov liable for feeding it bodies? War was gluttonous, greedy. It would take and take and take, fueled by a taste for blood. Yes, young men were forced to sacrifice their bodies to the war, but the blood taken from them to feed the machine would save hundreds of others. The ends justify the means. At what point does a ratio become too close? Is it fair to measure human life in numbers? When did blood become a drug? When did war become an addict? Feed the machine… that was Novikov’s only job. Feed the machine. It was not his job to negotiate a peace. It was never his job. Had the circumstances of his life been slightly different, he would be one of the young men giving their lives to close that ratio. Could be be forgiven? His blood stained hands gripped desperately at his shot glass. The cold glass slipped through his finger tips. Red fingerprints engrained themselves upon it. Incriminating evidence. A match. A match. A match. A match to the fingerprints left upon all the men he had shaken hands with. A match to the fingerprints left on every body that died in his war. A match to his desperate attempts to grasp onto relief and free himself from the burden of sin. A match to the hands pressed to the church floor, begging for forgiveness. Novikov thought about what it felt like to die. Could war possibly overdose? Could war experience the choking feeling of its lungs coming to a stop; of bile, phlegm, and blood mixing in its throat as the light left its eyes? Perhaps the next body would be its last. Perhaps with the next one the war would finally end.
