WISE POLICY was launched in April of 1997 as CINEMA PARISIEN to acquire and distribute European, mainly French, art-house films. Founded by Atsushi Okita and Runa Yamagishi who experienced numerous film publicity such as Claude Miller and Charlotte Gainsboug L'EFRONTEE, Patrice Leconte's THE HAIRDRESSER'S HUSBAND, Aki Kaurismaki's THE MATCH FACTORY GIRL, Philippe Lioret's LOST IN TRANSIT. CINEMA PARISIEN distributed first film Anne Fontaine's DRY CLEANING followed by Patrice Leconte's THE GIRL ON THE BRIDGE, Jaques Audiard's READ MY LIPS, Jean Becker's THE CHILDREN OF THE MARSHLAND, Regis Wargnier's EAST/WEST, James Ivory's THE GOLDEN BOWL, Bigas Luna's VOLAVERUNT, Ethan Hawke's CHELSEA WALLS, Bob Giraldi's DINNER RUSH, among others. All films were successful run in Japan averaged more than 50000 to 100000 admissions at box office. In addition to distribution, CINEMA PARISIEN also co-produced Patrice Leconte's LOVE STREET and THE MAN ON THE TRAIN with producer Philippe Carcassonne, Amos Kollek's BRIDGET with producer Ferederic Robbes. On February 1st 2004, CINEMA PARISIEN changed its company name to WISE POLICY. The further development is aimed at taking advantage of experience CINEMA PARISIEN era, WISE POLICY has distributed such films as Ang Lee's BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN and LUST, CAUTION (as well as re-release of Lee's PUSHING HANDS, THE WEDDING BANQUET, EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN), Niels Mueller's THE ASSASSINATION OF RICHARD NIXON, James Ivory's THE WHITE COUNTESS, and Woody Allen's SCOOP. In 2006, WISE POLICY solely produced WATER, directed by Akutagawa award winning writer Shuichi Yoshida who adapted his own novel, and was photographed and scored by French cinematographer and composer. However, I close WISEPOLICY in April, 2009. I'm active as a freelance producer now.
