Customer: *pulls out receipt* I was here a couple days ago and didn’t get my *insert product here*

Cashier: I’ll ring you out while the manager looks it up

Me: *watches it be bagged with other groceries and the customer taking her bag*

Me to the customer: It was bagged with *insert other groceries* and you took your all your bags. I’m sorry we can’t replace it because you left with it according to our cameras.

Customer: well I just don’t understand how that can be because I don’t have them

Like im not just gonna replace food you probably ate 2 days later when you’re on camera leaving with it 🙄

Customer: *asks a bunch of questions about whether we carry bicycle pumps, adaptors, or even a pool pump*

Me: *politely answers no to each one*

Customer: *goes up to my cashier* do you sell bicycle pumps because I think that child back there doesn’t have a clue about anything?

My cashier: That “Child” is the manager so if she said no, it’s a no

I got called to come into work, I’m on vacation, to sign off on my performance review because today is the last day...

And then this woman, my boss, has the nerve to say I only gave you a meets expectations because you didn’t pick up a box I left on the floor... l get less of a raise because I didn’t pick up after her because in running the store for the past 2 weeks I missed 1 thing. Gah!

Customer: Do you have pop sockets?

Me: No, Sir, we...

Customer: You know the little round circles that help you hold your phone

Me: No, we do not

Idk if he wasn’t listening to me or he thought because I said we don’t carry them he needed to make sure I knew what he was talking about. SMH.

There was a guy walking around my store for a good 20 minutes farting...Sir can you not

So a customer called and complained to my boss because I didn’t respond to her child because I was busy typing her ID in to the register…

First off, I was raised not to interrupt people while they are busy.

Secondly, my boss and I had a good laugh because you also complained to her about herself because when you asked if we still sold kids pjs she said “No, thank god”

Thirdly, the oh so important thing your child said to me was “I like slime”.

PSA: I don’t talk to children and you’re honestly very lucky that I don’t.

Oh and lastly, you’re lucky I wasn’t an asshole and when you told your child that I was ignoring her instead of telling her that I was clearly busy focusing I didn’t say “sorry it’s rude to interrupt people if Santa were real you’d be on the naughty list”

She took our customer survey...and I’m dying. Idk what disiplined is but I won’t be getting that or disciplined by the company as they do not care

So today I got a customer complaint because we stock product on our top shelf.

Then we I apologized and said I’m sorry we have no control over that sort of thing it’s controlled by corporate.

She said “Well, I’m sure they would listen to you if you made the suggestion.”

And my dumbass, not being able to bite my tongue, said “They don’t even listen to their customers and you think they’re going to listen to their employees?” Nope.

Customer: Here’s 7 *hands me $7* do you have the .02 or... *starts slowly reaching for his wallet*

We clearly don’t have a penny cup so why would you ask me for the 2 cents

I yelled at a customer...

And I couldn’t have been happier 😂

The other night, my cashier comes back to get me (I was on break) because she’s having problems with the pinpad. So I go and help her and while that customer is paying he asks if he can also get a cigar on a different transaction. I turn to get so they can finish the transaction and go right into the next one because their are 4 people waiting.

Then this manchild yells, “hey hun how about you open another register”. So I go “I’m not currently on the clock but...” and naturally he interrupts me before I can say “give me a minute to clock in” and he starts,

“Well who else is here to help?”.

“It’s just me and her but...”

“This is ridiculous. You leave her out her every night on her own. There should be more people here”

So I walk over to my register, clock in, and yell “I’ll take anyone but that guy”

Needless to say he left mad and empty handed. Sorry you’re not going to yell at me and then expect me to help you. It’s not going to happen.

Corporate: drastically cut their hours

Corporate to corporate: now increase the size of their truck

It’s officially a new year...

Which also means it’s that time of year where the financial year is coming to a close for most companies.

So when you’re standing in line cause there aren’t enough registers open, can’t find anyone to help you, and/or a lot of things are out of stock, please remember it’s not the employees fault (although it never is anyways). The company that you choose to spend your money at just doesn’t give a shit about and is cutting corners to earn themselves a pretty penny.

Just another work tangent passing through

This is like 2 tangents in one so bare with me if you’re reading this.

I work for a store that does $2 million in sales yearly, and corporate has decided to cut out hours so badly that people are alone in the store from time.

Now I am someone that thinks no matter how small the business is no one should be alone but realistically I know it happens a lot.

But how can you allow a store that does that much business, is less than a minute from 2 highways, and sits between 2 areas that you have deemed “bad areas” ( one of which is under 5 mins) to have employees be alone? Not only is it stupid and unsafe, but it pisses customers off because no one else can help them and I lie and say “of course I’m not alone” but I’m not a fucking dumbass.

Tangent #2

My boss is an asshole to put it politely. She was planning on taken her vacation starting 12-29 but that’s against policy. So for 2 weeks I was like “did you check with the DM? Is he gonna let you start it early?” And she didn’t it wasn’t till a week ago that he saw the schedule for this week and was like you can’t go on vacation till the 1st.

So she changed the schedule and put me on New Year’s Eve (one of the 2 holidays I take off every year) but luckily for her my plans had been cancelled. So I let it go and kept New Year’s Day off and was gonna be able to spend the rest of New Year’s Eve with family then New Year’s Day running errands with my mom.

Well she tells me on the 29th that she needs someone to cover opening New Years because she has a (non-medical) appointment and that we can play it by ear as to whether or not she comes in after or takes a vacation day. Awfully fishy since most companies are closed on New Years.

So I come in today, and she start setting it up about her back hurting so much and how if she rests it tomorrow she’s sure it’ll help. Aka she’s gonna call me tomorrow morning and tell me to stay because her back hurts too much. And this is all in spite of the fact (allegedly) that she was denied her vacation and can’t start it till the 6th (by choice mind you).
