If there is demand for more from the performance (and these videos have not been reposted etc. in the meantime), I will try to post what Iâve got eventually, but theyâll be few and far between, as Iâm very busy, and processing the footage takes a long time, and is a terrible strain on my old, struggling computer. So let me know.
These videos of Assassins at the MCF are from Aaron Tveitâs final week. Let me stress that the taping quality is very poor and will only get poorer as the performance progresses. These videos were taped blind and wide from a back row corner mostly through gaps in the audience via variable body-positioning, and the proximity of the performer to the audience and the proximity of the audience to the orchestra badly distorted the balance of the recorded audio (the small size of the theatre meant that these differences were not as evident in live viewing). These wide videos were then edited with heavy cropping and extensive jump-cutting to keep the actors within the frame.
The camera tends to default to Tveit, particularly when the action could not be captured from my narrow angle, especially as I had anticipated a West End transfer without him at the time of recording. While some parts look like sheer indulgence, let me assure that many times I had tried to focus on the action but gave up because of filming obstacles. Some parts are sheer indulgence. Apologies also for the persistent watermark: I am hoping to prevent the use and spread of these videos as the MCF is an exceptionally small and personal theatre, and this production a relatively exclusive one.
Apologies especially to gif and graphic-makers for the watermark, I know it makes things very difficult. If nevertheless you decide to, I would appreciate a link back to the Tumblr video post, thank you!
Finally: the hair flick was blocked every time. It was just not to be. Sorry.
