One month and a dozen of days update!
Hi! Been sooooo long that I logged in and talked on here. Now I'm sooo back to chit chatting! I have so many thoughts to let them flow out so here are the topics discussed today:
all of them will be in short passages so don't worry about reading paragraphs XD
ok so let's start from the first one, we're lacking of "third places". The concept here is that normally you have one, a house or a place or somewhere to live then you have the second place, which is school or workplace. you all know what functions of these places are for you but what about when you want to have fun or want to do something creative? where do you go to? your resident? or your office? this is when the idea of a third place comes in. I want to say that we're lack of that in the modern society especially AFTER social media had come into play for the last probably 10-12 years! At least I was *lucky* enough to have that kind of place when I was in elementary school. It was an internet café. It was such a nice place to go to on every weekend. 6 years later, I became a high schooler and all the internet cafés were GONE! but that's fine cause I still had a community mall in my hometown to visit. Beause of it, my high school life wasn't so lackluster. My question is that after the epidemic conquered the world for almost THREE YEARS, where do teenagers hang out now? do they just meet up on Zoom? catching up at some parks or popular coffee shops? do they have any other places to go besides their houses and schools? BRING BACK THIRD PLACES.
We have friends or used to have friends. This won't take too long, I promise. Do you ever call them best friends of yours? AND Do they, in return, ever call you theirs? Is it one-sided or reciprocal? I once had the moment when I called this anonymous girl my best friend but at last, the reality, very naked one I must say, hit me in the face like I was slapped by a violent hand that she never wanted to be called that by me. I was heart.bro.ken. from that one-sided friendship. Fortunately, I moved on. actually went back once or twice and learned again that once something had ended, it should stay ended. It's unnecessary to turn your head back to something that has never been worth of your time and energy. *MIC TURNED OFF*
HAVING A HOBBY
The price that comes with having social media accounts in your hands is that you spend time doom-scrolling ,or which is worse, wasting time that you should have done daily tasks but instead you'd be on screen all the time. What has been boggling my mind for a long time now is whether I should get a hobby or not. A hobby is not a new thing. Older adults have all those wonderful hobbies to fulfil their heart and soul for example: a woman in her 50's in my neighborhood, who has no husband and no children, grows vegetables in her garden and sells them for a nice amount of money. When will Gen Z-ers like us have that recreation as well? I think it's good that we have at least a hobby that we can engage in. What social media and a hobby have in common is that they require our ATTENTION. Why don't we direct our attention to something that actually benefit us and make our holidays worth of any good? I don't know. I only share my opinion. What's yours?
