After far too long of a day Connor was packing up the gym, heâd just finished his last class and was eager to retire back to his studio apartment. Sure heâd probably order the same pizza from the same shop, watch the same run around movie The Departed.. but it worked for him. His body ached from his most recent fight and he was craving the normalcy that was granted to him in his Bronx home. His indulging thoughts were running ramped in head when he heard the chimes on the door open, a groan passing his lips. âLast class ended at 10.. weâre closed.â he called out, turning around to peak at the individual now stepping into his line of vision.
At last! A shining beacon of light in the never-ending darkness. Pushing the door of the gym open, a disheveled Audrey let out a breath of exaggerated relief. Her tiny umbrella had hardly been a match for the monsoon-like downpour that had ambushed Ambridge this evening, and sheâd just begun to lose hope when the light through the storefront of the building proved her saving grace. Not that she received a particularly warm welcome. âWell, itâs a good thing I didnât come here to work out then,â Audrey smiled casually, dropping her back to the floor and leisurely making her elbows comfortable on the counter. âThough if you donât want people stopping by to drip on your counter, a tip would be to actually lock the door when youâre closed. I feel it often helps keep unwanted company out of areas theyâre not supposed to be in.â A pause, before she tilted her head to the side, smile still on her lips. âA towel, please? I promise to dry clean it before giving it back.â
