if you’re not already watching ‘please like me’ then please start because it’s in it’s third season now and it’s an incredibly cute and incredibly honest australian tv show written by and starring comedian josh thomas (and also stars hannah gadsby, who is also gay and also a comedian and also fucking brilliant). why watch it? well:

the main character is gay and several surrounding characters are too but it isn’t all about being gay in any stereotyped way

it accurately depicts mental illness in adults (including parents)

discusses mental illness in depth and how to navigate relationships when someone has anxiety or is mentally ill

it’s so well written!! it’s quirky and funny and wonderful

depicts a mixed race relationship and the prejudice that women of colour face when they leave their home countries

also has some discussion of racial fetishisation and calls out little instances of racism in every day life

it’s about a bunch of twenty-somethings who are just trying to navigate life and relationships and friendships and family and it’s awkward and real and so incredibly relatable 

basically please watch it because it’s incredible
