Guests Provide Feedback During a Day of Fun at Austin's Park
At Austin’s Park n’ Pizza Experience, we’re always trying to find ways to improve and make our guests’ time at Austin’s Park as fun and enjoyable as possible. We know that perfection is a tough mountain to climb, but that doesn’t stop us from trying.
We’ve spent the last two years upgrading and renovating our beautiful park. Thanks to guest feedback, we’ve learned that those who visit Austin’s Park want the entire Austin’s Park n’ Pizza Experience … including the food experience. This led us recently to update and improved our food offerings, and last week, we invited families to a fun-filled day of taste testing our new food items and to participate in a “Top Chef”-style cooking competition.
The day began by bringing all 50 guests in attendance to our Austinite’s Dining room, where we brought all different styles of pizza that had different combinations of toppings, crust styles, and sauces. Guests marked their thoughts on a feedback card, and the opinions of the day will be used to guide where the Austin’s Park pizza goes from here.
One of our guests, RJ, was there on his actual birthday! One would be hard pressed to find a better way to spend a birthday than taste-testing pizza, participating in an awesome cooking competition, and playing games and riding go-karts afterward. Happy Birthday, RJ!
Next, we brought out our new tacos and potatoes, when, once again, guests were able to voice their opinions on the feedback cards.
After the food sampling, there was a cooking competition with our Kitchen Managers: Chef Sean, Chef Chris and Chef Marcus. Each chef was given two sous chefs (kids from the audience), and each chef team was given the same ingredients: assorted vegetables, hot dogs, meatballs, tuscan chicken, chicken nuggets. Each team had to create a Regular AND a Gluten Free pizza in 20 minutes.
The winning team was Chef Marcus, who made a smiley face out of pepperoni, and they received $500 to the charity of Chef Marcus’ choice, and a free birthday party for each sous chef kid!
The two runner-up teams each got $250 to the chef's charity of choice, and a $50 gift card to each of the runner-up kids!
After that, everyone was given wristbands to enjoy the afternoon in the park.
We had such a fun time, and the feedback was so helpful, that we’d like to make this something we do periodically. So, be sure to keep an eye out for your chance to participate in the future.
Attention Austin Parkers! We had to temporarily close our new Safari Track so we can make it a little bit better for all our go-karters. We apologize for the delay, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our family-friendly Speedway go-karts and test your drifting skills with our Slick Track go-karts. We have go-karts galore at Austin’s Park!

Yes, he did say "funnel cake!" Chef Leifeste's favorite thing to make at Austin's Park n' Pizza is the funnel cakes. No one else in Austin does gourmet funnel cakes like the master chef. Chris's pro tip for how to make an awesome funnel cake: The batter is the most important part! "You can't make a good funnel cake if you can't make a good batter!"
Listen to Head Chef Chris Leifeste talk about working at Austin's Park n' Pizza and the wonderful people he gets to work with.
You got tickets? We got prizes.
Watch and learn, kiddos, this recipe took about a year and a half to perfect. Manolo is a master of his craft, and takes great care in each step of the dough-making process. Here's what is involved: First, start with water. Then add kosher salt & sugar. Mix all of this together thoroughly, then add the flour. Put in the yeast and start the machine to mix for 3 minutes. While it's mixing add in the seasoning and oils. After it's done mixing, remove the dough from the mixing pot. Then just ball it up, spread it into a pan, and you're ready to make a pizza!
What else do we need to say?

Get to know our Chef Chris Leifeste! He practically grew up in his grandmother's kitchen, and has been working in restaurants since he was 16. Chris has been classically trained at Le Cordon Bleu and has since cooked for Rick Perry as well as Lance Henrickson. He loves that he's able to play with his food and invent new things. The Master Chef also likes to experiment with anything savory.
