Listen to Mint Mulan excerpt by AutoMattock #np on #SoundCloud
It is often helpful if I verbally articulate the way I feel about a piece of music I'm working on... there's an emotional content that my goal is to explain without words. Â Sometimes I don't have those words and yet I have to generate the same feeling I get from what is on my mind to a language I've don't to even have complete command over. Â Issues about life I don't have that command to understand, yet can still ATTEMPT to express. Â
In MINT MULAN my feeling is that of empathy, understanding, and almost apologetic yet knowing I wasn't in the wrong. Â I use my artistic passion as a means of an apology. Â It was painful knowing I was in some way involved with hurting somebody in a way that I didn't anticipate. Â I still try to maintain a positive vibe despite this. Â It's also a reflection on how I can better interact with people. Â
I use a cello cause I used to play cello.  The idea there is to place more of myself in the music.  The beginning theme is actually from a song with lyrics that I wrote titled "Somebody will love you".  That song was written for somebody previously and I never used it.  Where the magic happened was that song had the same common chord progression of a song called “Mint”, by my favorite pianist from japan.  The themes fit perfectly both melodically and metaphorically.  I put the two themes together and it was gorgeous.  I am currently working on combining this with other tracks I’ve had tucked away for the longest time, “Concepts” and “Relationships”.  I want the ending to be fast, intense, and forward moving as if to sign off with the interaction with myself and music only.
So yeah…I’ll be around at both conventions this year. It’s something I’d been meaning to announce amidst how busy I’ve been with everything in preparation for going to SDCC, but I will also be making a brief appearance at NYCC Special Edition.Â
Hope to see ya there!

HEAVY THEMES #makestuff #musicproduction
The name here is first inspired by the speedy delivery of my m-audio axiom 25. Â "It's here already!?" Â The pace at which I could compose and manipulate the music was incredible. Â I've always had a bit of trouble keeping up with my own ideas and having this new tool was redeeming. Â This piece was quickly put together in two short sessions.
The other thought to this piece is a sort of extraterrestrial observation.  What if mankind was perceived corrupt on the surface of things, but when confronted with reality was the opposite?  I know it seemed far fetched but these kinds of ideas fed the unique sound.
Enjoy!
Any plans to release new music anytime soon?
For sure yes. Â I've had a recent epiphany about my life priorities and music is at the top of the list.
how can I get your gainz
lift during the intense portions of music to make allllll TYPES of gainz
For example: Â I often use this track at 1:50 for my last sets http://youtu.be/SzdyvNiitWg It really gets me going for that final push
So today
I worked on my day off and it was stupid. Â The end.
