It was funnier in my head shshsb
I did the sketch for this back in October, originally intending it to be one of my Color Fall pieces, before deciding I didn't want to be limited to a monochromatic color palette for it.
The dragons are probably my favorite thing about BotW ^_^
I also recorded a video of the process. (Warning: I had to speed it up x8 to get the video short enough - if blinking images and fast movements are a problem for you, proceed with caution.)

Baatar was one of the younger knights, though he did not posses bending abilities. He had other skills that had impressed the King and the Queen. He had the ability to sense when someone was coming even if they were soundless. Though he had been in the court for a couple years serving as a guard, the monarchs had recently appointed him as personal guard to their only daughter, Princess Kuvira. He duties including following her around when she traveled around the kingdom or into foreign lands. He knew that the Princess had yet to be married yet and he could only assume her parents wanted her to be wed soon so she could produce an heir to their kingdom.
"Of course it's different. We are much more flexible than a monarchy. We didn't only want you to take over because you're our son, but because we thought you were capable."
“Really? Because it doesn’t seem that way at all. Especially when someone goes against your own views.”

"If she takes over his duties. He won't like this any more than I do. What if he disowns her fully? There may be a cousin or something who he makes his heir instead."
“If there was a cousin he would have had her married off to them way before now. You may not like it mother but it is what it is now.”
"It's not too late to get an annulment," Suyin said. "You can change your mind."
I’m not going to change my mother,” he said firmly.
"Then I'll have to ask you and your new wife to leave. I can't have my citizens thinking I endorse the monarchy."
"You can't have citizens that go against your views you mean." Baatar said, "Dad and my siblings are welcome to come and visit us anytime you choose," He said turning to his father wondering how he could stay with his mother for this long.
His father looked at him, pained. "Junior, please understand the position this puts us in."
“That you guys are a bunch of hypocrites? Always preaching about how everyone should reach their full potential yet when some veers away from your views it unacceptable?”
"It's more complicated than that," his father said. "We stand for something here, and if you're married to the heir to the monarchy, that goes against everything we've tried to build."
"And what is it that you are trying to build exactly? Who's supposed to take over when you and mom are too old?"
"It was supposed to be you!" Suyin hissed. "But you don't seem to appreciate what we're doing. So I'll have to look elsewhere."
“And you don’t see how that’s hypocritical in any way?” He asked. “What makes me qualified to run your city? Isn’t that like creating your own monarchy and calling it something different?”
"It's different," Suyin growled. "We know the dangers."
“But it’s not really different is it?”

"A future where you could have had a more suitable wife! You've thrown yourself into a mess now. Everyone knows the king does not favor Kuvira. You've tied yourself to a sinking ship!"
“How is marring kuvira a sinking ship? She is the sole heir of the kingdom. She may not be in favor with her father now but things could change.”
"And what, you want to he King. Is that it?"
“Not at all beside my plan is let my wife do the ruling as she sees fit. I would just be there for support and guard duties.”
Suyin's frown deepened. "I knew you would be corrupted if you went to work for the royals. You've forgotten everything your father and I taught you."
“I haven’t forgotten mother I just learned more information on my own as well to.”
"And you've decided to support the monarchy? That's what you've learned?"
“I’ve learned that not all monarchies are evil like you made them out to be mother. Some are rather progressive mother.”
"The one we live in now is not progressive. The King doesn't even value his own child."
“Things could change when she takes over his duties mother.”

He took a breath, “well mom dad, meet my wife.” He said gesturing towards Kuvira.
Suyin stared at him for a moment, not understanding at all. "Excuse me?"
“The princess and I got married mother.”
"You got married?" She shook her head, her anger building. "You married her? Her family represents everything we stand against!"

Suyin looked like he had slapped her. "You are throwing away your future. "
“And what future is that mother? Staying here in your home forever?”
