— special delivery for @avaxcoleman
“Knock, knock,” Ellie called, rapping on the front door. It had been a day since the residents of East End were released from the safe-zones. More like prisons with the hurricane’s wind and rain keeping them trapped for days. But, after the skies cleared, Ellie headed to the hospital to see if they needed help. They, of course, did. So, she stayed until things slowed down before finally heading home. On the way, Ava popped into her mind and Ellie wondered how she’d fared the storm. Suddenly, she felt like a shitty friend for not thinking to check on her before now. With a quick detour, she found herself at the other’s home. Thankful the sun had already set since she knew Ava couldn’t come out during the day. “It’s Ellie. You in there?”
Ava was amazed she had survived the storm without hurting or killing the entire fire station. She still felt bad that she had lost her control with Winnie, she had hurt the girl, but the scent of the blood had made her lose control. She had been like a shark at the first scent of blood and the feeding frenzy had taken over. Ava knew she had to be grateful that she hadn’t seriously hurt the girl, she could have lost complete control. Thankfully Nick had been there to offer her blood the rest of the time so she could survive until the storm ended. However, the outcome was worst than what she could have imagined. The whole town was destroyed, the storm had pretty much leveled everything. It reminded her of when Hurricane Sandy hit New York. Thankfully her home hadn’t been amongst the most destroyed of the city. Simon’s place had been destroyed though, and there was water damage galore. The already horrible apartment was now even worse and smelled of nothing but mold. She hated it. They had to go somewhere else, she didn’t want to stay here anymore. The sun had set an hour ago, so Ava was about to head out for the night when she heard the knock. Surprise flickered across her features before a smile grew. She felt like all semblance of a normal life was fleeing from her, but a visit from a friend was welcomed. She opened the door and smiled at Ellie. “Hey, Ellie.”
