Avery has always been a dreamer. For as long as she could remember, her mind was full of constant imagination. It wasn't long until she finally learn how to put her daydreams down on paper, writing out the stories that formed within her mind. And, whenever she wasn't writing her own stories, she indulged in the stories of others. May it be books, movies, plays, television shows, comics; No matter what it was, if she could get her hands on it, she devoured it.
And for the longest time, her parents were supportive of her dreams. With her father an author himself and her mother a theatre actress, they too knew what it was like. To have the constant desire to create something wonderful and share that with the world. Hero had felt lucky to have them as her parents, especially the older she got and realized more about her queer identity, receiving their unwavering love and support still.
But... Even the most beautiful fantasies end at some point. And not all of them end in a "Happily Ever After".
Discovering her mother's infidelity had been a heartbreaking crack in the perfect family life they originally possessed. Her mother left her father for the director she'd spent years having an affair with, deciding that she wanted a life and family with him than the one she spent years creating. In Avery's eyes, it wasn't hard for her to be on his side. To love and support him, even when she moved from New York City to attending boarding school in Connecticut.
It hadn't been easy for her to open her heart to others. Sure, she dated, but nothing ever serious. She mainly slept around. But meeting Liza... She swore that she hated her. She swore that she couldn't stand her. But, more than anything, she hated how much she wanted to be around. She couldn't stand not being around her. Avery had fallen in love with her and, after having a little rivalry with the beautiful girl for a few years, they began to date. And for awhile, it'd been beautiful. Her heart had finally opened up and she believed in love again.
But... Loving someone doesn't fully take away all the fears and insecurities, especially when your original perception of love was fucked up. Avery made some stupid choices, primarily what with her communication skills not being the best, but she continually tried her best. Yet, one night, Liza ended everything. As it turned out, she'd been seeing another girl behind her back, Jolene. Once again, Avery's perception of love had been destroyed. And she sought out the school's local charity case-slash-drug dealer, Max Slater.
Now, Avery and Max had an... interesting relationship. They didn't exactly hated each other, but liking each other? It was hard to say. Their interactions were always one thing or another. But, after he helped her out after one night during Avery and Liza's relationship where they had a big fight, she wanted to feel that again. So, initially, she was ready to buy some drugs from him. Only for Max to decline, noticing that she was in no shape or form to be on anything. Instead, he tried to talk with her. To get her to calm down and seek out other ways to work through her broken heart. It'd been innocent enough. At first. After they had a moment together, he ended up kissing her. She kissed him back, which then led to them sleeping together.
Not too long afterwards, she found out she was pregnant with their son. Mars Wild Slater.
Being high school graduates, the two had no idea how to raise a baby together. They moved in together, deciding that that would be the best option for their son, and moved to California. Max had began working for a man named Scotty, becoming one of his brightest drug dealers, whereas Avery had gotten a job as a strip dancer. Putting her dream of being an author on hold broke her heart, leading her to stop writing altogether, and becoming a shell of herself. She was jaded and harsh, reverting back to the girl she'd been before Liza. She didn't have many friends out in California, nor was she really trying to make any. She mainly stuck to herself, Max, and their son. And if she was "friendly" with someone, it was mainly to fuck them.
But, having Max to rely on had been nice. She trusted him. Yet... Over time, she fucked that up, too. She was falling for him, and he was falling for her. They tried to keep things uncomplicated for their son, who was still too young to understand anything. But, after they began to sleep together again, shit became messy. And Avery panicked after Max admitted he wanted more with her.
Instead, she choose someone else. A guy who was a great fuck but a shitty person. You see, in her mind, she thought that it would be better that way. Being in a loveless relationship than risking getting her heartbroken by the person she truly loved sounded like a pretty great idea to her.
Has it been mentioned that she's a bit of an idiot?
Someone after marrying the guy in Vegas and Max being sent to jail in Chicago, after been caught with drugs and prosecuted while on a trip in Illinois, Avery, Mars, and Avery's new husband moved to Blue Harbor. She got a job serving as a bartender at the Labyrinth, liking it much better than her old job, and trying to make life good for Mars still. Her husband... Well, he was still a dick. Hated that they moved out of California, especially so that they could be close to Max. About a year after the move, Avery discovered that she was pregnant again. Twins this time; She gave birth to Luke and Leia, and things seemed good. Her husband was becoming a good man after finding out he was going to be a father and was doting towards the children.
But good things don't last for long when it concerns Avery. She's always battled with depression, but this? Nothing could explain the pain she felt and how utterly hopeless she was. She could barely breathe most days. It had been the final straw for her husband and he left. Taking everything he owned yet leaving the children, he was gone. And even though it was hard, Avery tried to find a way to be there for her children while she was suffering.
Life in Blue Harbor after her husband left become good. And genuinely, this time. She sought out the help she's needed all this time and gained a support system. And now, what with Mars being fifteen and the twins ten, things have gotten better. The kids are growing up, healthy and happy; She's been given ownership over the Labyrinth earlier in 2024; She was thinking about a second business idea that might not be bad; And, slowly but surely, she's getting back into writing. Avery's slowly coming back to who she was before, even if it's hard at times.
She just hopes that things stay good... If not for her, then at least for her children.

📖Avery has known about her queer identity since she was ten years old. She had first come out as pansexual when she was thirteen, and then at sixteen, she came out as a demiwoman. She uses she/they pronouns, with she/her being her primary pronouns.
📖Avery had been introduced to the world of fanfiction and animated music videos when she was thirteen. She would write her stories on Archive of Our Own and Quotev primarily, then started learning how to make AMVs when she was fifteen. While she no longer makes AMVs, she has gotten back into fanfics and is back on her old account.
📖With that in mind, Calliope and Hero had been her aliases online. Over the years, they have started using Hero as their name whenever using their they/them pronouns. Feeling less like the distinction between the two names helps reflect more as to who she is.
📖Time to be meta as fuck y'all lmao Hero use to do YouTube and Tumblr roleplay, primarily doing Disney, Greek mythology, and Percy Jackson group rps. While they no longer do group rps, mainly since those rps no longer really exist, they do have some indies that they're semi-active on. They write: Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast; Greek mythology's Calliope, the muse of epic poetry; and Percy Jackson from... Percy Jackson lmao
📖Avery's been working at the Labyrinth since they moved to Blue Harbor and absolutely loves it there. While she never imagined working in a bar, she fell in love with the mythological and fantasy elements of it. Over the years, she has proven herself time and time again to be a quality employee and has earned some promotions. Until, finally at the start of the year, she gained ownership of the bar. She's ready to do everything in her power to keep making it the best place in town (in her totally unbiased views, of course).
📖Avery and the kids live in the three bedroom loft above the Labyrinth. The old owner first gave it to her after her husband left, knowing that it would help things out and get rid of some of the stress she was experiencing during that time.
📖Now, while Avery's been on some dates and have hooked up with a lot of people, she hasn't allowed herself to be romantic with anyone since Max and her husband (mainly Max). However... Over the past few years, she has been developing some feelings for a certain archaeologist known as Doctor Moshe Behar. While she's flirted with him multiple times and finds his bashfulness enduring, she isn't sure if he feels the same way about her. Which, on one hand, might be a good thing, given her history. But... On the other hand, there's a part of her that wants to try. And that's terrifying as fuck.
