Another shot from our interviews with @chelseytattoos for the feature doc about @literaryink. We had a very simple camera/light set up for all of these interviews, so it would be easier to get into the conversation. Our DP @williamjvest went handheld and I kept the conversation going with Chelsey. After so many years doing this I still very much enjoy interviewing people. I feel like I got a lot better after talking to artists on camera every day for a week straight. Let me tell you a little secret: the interviewer is also nervous sometimes, and not because of the person on camera, but because of the pressure to have good questions and follow the energy in the room correctly. My key for good interviews? You have to honestly listen, and don’t think about your next question that is written down. Really listen and whatever makes you curious you just take that route. More lighting tips. On this shot you see more of the scene I was talking about on the previous post. In the back is the other @quasarscience light mounted on a stand. This light was the key light for the people seating on the sides of the table and it gave the people in the back a sweet back light. I know by now you’re distracted by the food, and yes, it was amazing. 😜 (at Cabaiguán, Cuba)
