Viral Interventions: Final Artifact
Our final artifact is a piece of all of our clothes that we wore during the video. Kuanysh brought his onesie, Laura brought her pajamas and plush heart, Hector his shirt and something to hold his hair together, and I brought my sleep mask. We stacked them all from biggest to smallest with the heart centered on top. This is all on a simple chair that Hector also brought. We decided to place it next to the air conditioner because the door to it looks like a closet door and it fits the whole pajama theme we have going on.
Final Proposal
humility vs pride
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
For our idea we are going to make a film of a public performance of us in pajamas as a humorous and also hidden message of humility vs pride. We may choose a different spot if so, but for now our idea is going to a bank and walking in, sitting, and even acting out just humble attitude. We are then going to also film this process and make a short film of videos of the situation and also we may add other clips of acts of pride and humility, where pride is being humbled. And we will also use props if necessary like a mug and a heart. A heart as a way to symbolize the word “cure.” And for sitting down with a mug would be funny with the pajamas on to show though it is a serious place like a bank, there is somebody sitting in the bank with pajamas with a mug (like how someone would at home). We may also go in other public places with the pajamas too. The pajamas are symbols of humility since they are not for show, rather sincere, something you wear at home, not to impress or show off. Humility. So that is our final idea
Viral Intervention: Final Documentation
The actual performance and things we did for this final was not as bad as I imagined. There were talks of going to a bank but thank God we didn't get to go because I feel like they would have thought us suspicious. We ended up having more footage than anticipated from the restaurant, hotel lobby, and car wash. The whole thing took about 3 hours maybe but it didn't feel rushed. It was a weird feeling being in pajamas in public, I don't like to dress down unless I'm going to the store really quick but even when I do that, I feel like everyone looks at me.
Viral Intervention: Process
This is the process video for our final documentation. It is basically a behind the scenes with us discussing what our next move would be, us on the way to a location, what we should add to the performance, and even shots we felt that should not be in the final cut. Overall there is not much to say about it, Kuanysh edited both the videos and I feel he included all the right things in this one. I realized I did not talk much compared to Hector or Laura but that is fine because I still did my part.

My hope is that by providing people with an anonymous medium through which they can express their inner thoughts (A symbol encouraging discourse), we can obtain a clearer picture of the inner workings of the “anxious population” we mention in the group’s sentence; by lending the power to them (though the use of a marker) we can get a better idea of the level of “humility” or “pride” that strikes the FIU population (by observing the character displayed by the writing or drawing done in the symbols we made). My source of inspiration was Rorschach tests, graffiti tags and protests (methods used to manifest thoughts individually and collectively). The intended audience of this proposal in the FIU population, and the best venue to reach them would be a public space like the Graham Center or the Green Library.

Proposal 1: “Empowerment through Diversity”
Description:
I was thinking about our group envisions translating the guiding sentence, “Empowerment through Diversity,” into a vibrant public artwork that celebrates the strength and beauty of diversity. Our intended audience is the general public, with a focus on urban areas where diversity is abundant. The best venue to reach this target audience would be a busy city square or public park. Our artwork will feature a series of interconnected hands of various skin tones, sizes, and ages, symbolizing unity and collaboration. Surrounding the hands will be colorful symbols representing different cultures, languages, and traditions. By visually representing the richness of diversity and the power it brings when people come together, we aim to inspire and empower viewers.

VIRAL INTERVENTIONS: THE PROJECT & PROPOSALS
Idea: 1 “Light shine out the hidden darkness”
References:
I thought of this for the pride vs humility: Light vs darkness. The 3 drawings are possible versions of the idea. Firstly, I thought of the use of clothing/costume using big fabric(for example, black and white sheets, and wearing them) to create a visual representation of light exposing, casting out darkness of disguised pride. Light exposes, shines out in darkness. I also put a person in the middle with a heart to signify “the cure,” so I put it in the middle, like a wound being healed, like a repair to a broken system, like kindness and compassion to the oppressed and afflicted. The second possible outcome is a sculpture using the fabric and other materials to create these structures that suggest the pride being humbled by humility, the cure to disguised pride, oppressing an anxious population. And the third possible outcome is gestures(human) as one person stands on a chair to show the disguised pride they have(lofty, self righteous) whereas the other person is oppressed and anxious(on the floor) and the humility is stepping in as the cure like a mediator, with a heart (again, to signify “cure”). So those are the 3 sketches for this idea. Though, it can definitely still be modified, this is the overall concept visually.

I did not like this assignment. Because of the time constraint on this one, I feel like the presentation was half baked. I also feel we could have done a better idea even with the short time frame. Just holding the drawn picture up to the camera and saying parts of the sentence is boring. I did like the location we chose though because of how open it is. The lake, fountain, people walking by, and even the turtles make the whole area peaceful. I used to go there a lot last semester with my friends and then we would go to Starbucks.

Humility is the cure to disguised pride, oppressing an anxious population.

I chose the word anxious because that word holds a lot of weight. Anxiety is an intense feeling that could almost feel crushing if there is too much of it. In the case of this article, there would be no article if there was no anxiety displayed in it. It is a crucial part of the work. It is also the first word in the title. People can feel anxious from a number of things. They could feel it from them thinking that their clothes are not cool enough, their friends not liking them, or them not being ready to do something. I love the font I selected because of how scattered it is. It represents how scattered one can get when anxious. I also picked the color red because, for me, it symbolizes a strong emotion, whether it's love or hate.

I chose this article because none of the other ones that I saw were interesting. What I mean by that is that the other articles could easily be outdated within the month. This article would stand the test of time because parents will always be anxious about their kids for a number of reasons. They could be anxious for their kids' safety, if they are doing well in school, even if they have friends. I got this article from the New York Times. It was published on April 8th of this year and it was written by doctor Mathilde Ross.

I had the idea of having three of us wearing nice clothing, doesn't have to be formal wear, and they all look either smug or mad. The fourth member will be wearing comfortable clothing, maybe like pajamas. The comfy one will come up to us and place their hand on one of their shoulders warmly and smile. The one with the hand on the shoulder will visibly react, meaning they will ease up on the tension in their body and accept this feeling bestowed to them.
