I feel like it’s a witch hunt for Azzi. Which is making me so sad for her. Because I don’t think she gets about credit for what she did. She only ever played one full season of college basketball and she was able to accomplish things people can’t do in 4 years. I blame the media they did horrible writing genuine insight into Azzi and into this draft class as a whole because they were trying to push agendas which was basically everyone else is a perfect fit and has so much to learn but Azzi doesn’t she a finished product. Even UConn media did a deserve by downplaying her success of the team. It was basically anyone but Azzi in there eyes no matter what she did i don’t even know if winning another natty would satisfy them. But now people have this idea that she only got drafted for Paige and they are hiding behind asking questions about dynamics. Jose and Curt have said why they chose Azzi mutiple times it was thought out and deliberate and they wanted her. Now Azzi is getting dragged into things beyond basketball and are saying horrible things that are racist, homophobic, and sexist. Things that her family and friends can probably see. And it’s not lost on my how it always protect female athletes until one of them is black. And also not lost how there are two people in this relationship but it disproportionately affects one. The media wants to embarrass a black women, make it seem like she has no value to their team or organization and everyone is feeding into the circus without even thinking how there is a human being who just started her career. I’m sorry it’s just making me so mad.
thank you, I agree. there's this weird undertone to everything and it ultimately leads back to people wanting to embarrass azzi and disregard all the things shes done for every team shes been on/ apart of. she won so many games for uconn last season and losers still made think pieces abt her being a poy finalist.
