Ketu (South Node) in synastry 🏚️

The last time I did an astrology observation, a lot of people were curious about South Node synastry. I'm making a seperate post about it. Please keep in mind that the house themes also play a role here so check them too.

☀️ Ketu-Sun synastry: This synastry is where the Ketu person reprsents a darker emotional side of the sun. They do and speak what the sun wants to say. The sun person usually holds back on these words because it'll be "socially unacceptable". The non-chalance of ketu attracts sun. Very similar to sun-ascendant aspect. The connection feels fated. However, the sun is the one creating this effect on the ketu person. The ketu person can feel truly understood.

🌜Ketu-moon aspects: you know the on and off couple? The one that dates around but ends up together after all? Or where they say that the other one is never off their mind because the person feels like "home"? Yep, that's what this synastry is. The ketu person just unlocks a portion of "home" and "comfort" in moon's head and it's absolutely bonkers from there. This synastry can also prove painful if the ketu person doesn't reciprocate because why are you making the moon feel things when you don't want to keep her??

🗣️ Mercury-ketu in synastry: this is more tricky but if "you just always know how to say the right words" was a synastry, this would be it. I have this with my boyfriend and he's literally the most comforting person ever 🥺. He knows what to say at the right time even though he's super blunt. For some reason, I just cannot find fault in his words. Also, a good placement if your turn on is dirty talk.

🧨 Mars-Ketu synastry: how do I explain this synastry when the only thing i can think of is "I'll beat the crap out of you". And no, ketu isn't feeling this way here. Mars is. Even in harmonious relationships, the Mars person can feel this urge to tussle with ketu. Rile ketu up for a reaction. The ketu person could be just minding their business while the mars person is sitting there thinking "hmm, can I get a rise out of this mf?" 😂😂.

Now this synastry can go either way. It can be 1) I'm going to make him/her so mad, they'd wanna spank me harder today 😈 or 2) yeah, I WANT to pick up a fight just cause 🙂🔪. Be careful. The second one can get toxic pretty soon.

💅 Venus-ketu synastry: this one I talked about previously. Venus-ketu is the most "I was fated to meet this person" placement ever. Ketu activates venus like nothing. House themes matter here a lot, btw. Because venus will activate according to the house theme. I had a ketu-venus synastry with a friend and she used to just pop up in my dreams randomly. I have a 12th house Venus. 12th house is the house of the hidden: dreams, alternate reality, spirituality. It was annoying because why you hijacking my dreams to love you harder?? 🤨

🔮 Jupiter-ketu synastry: has anyone told you that you're lucky for them? You probably had this conjunction with them. The ketu person not only feels fated but feels "lucky" to jupiter. Jupiter wants to keep ketu in their life because they just make things feel mystical and magical (for the better, of course). This placement can breed obsession from jupiter's end if they aren't careful.

🪐 Saturn-ketu: unpopular opinion but to me, this spells as a long term connection indicator. And no, I don't mean positive. Since Saturn is a "slow" planet, it takes a bit of time for it to get activated in any dynamic. However, once it does, it can sort of create a push and pull. The saturn might look to "dominate" ketu in this aspect. For example, if you have this conjunction in the 2nd house, Saturn person may think that you're too idealistic and don't care about your savings and then try to "guide" you. The ketu person though, might see saturn as too intense and want to show saturn how being anxious about savings has it's downsides. This relationship does have the potential to grow but in my personal opinion, this placement should be aspected with other positive synastries because it can effect long term themes of the relationship.

👹 Ketu-ketu synastry: This is the "I get why you're like this" synastry. I have this with my best friend and her habits make sense to me somehow? Even her "I just did it cause" things make sense to me. This is a very ride or die placement. I love this more with friends though cause you can go through periods of detachment and still fall back to the same place like nothing changed.

🌀 Pluto-ketu: the pluto person is left thinking"why did I like you almost instantly? What is this magic?". The ketu person could be openly intimidated and interested in pluto. However, pluto's first instinct is to be attracted and then left questioning as to why. Ketu isn't their type exactly so why do I feel this way? Could be so cute if they take time to get to know each other and then start the relationship.

👯 Ketu-Rahu synastry: "why are you so obsessed with me?" Placement. Lol. This is like meeting one of those people who you don't understand why they like you? You just don't get it as the ketu person. Rahu has their set of reasons. But the ketu person is always secretly thinking. I mean.. I don't see your point? Ketu can also feel bad about this at times. However, once you push through, ketu can actually have aspects it likes about Rahu and keep it around for the "vibes".

the prominent themes of vampirism such as desire, hunger, mystery and illusions tie so perfectly with the moon and its nodes. it wasn't surprising to find the nodes dominating this genre the most, along with the luminaries (moon & sun nakshatras, but more fittingly the moon). i will not be touching on the few sun nakshatras playing vampires, as the moon makes far more sense symbolizing true vampiric nature.

So many vampire movie posters have this luminous glow to them, likely done consciously because of these creatures' affinity for nighttime, and generally being nocturnal as they're extremely sensitive to any type of sunlight.

I've once briefly mentioned, in my "Moon Dominant Themes" post, that lunar natives can operate very secretly, such as 'working in the shadows'. And the whole lore of vampires always emphasizes their ability to hide themselves while still living among humans.

Vampires undergoing periods of dormancy and resurgence is interesting as that can also be linked back to the moon's cycles of waxing & maning. The influence that the moon has on vampires, in some legends, is during certain lunar phases in which they become more active. A full moon could literally mean that their strength has enhanced, whilst a moonless night could mean their desire for blood is heightened.

As these natives are often cult leaders, their ability to influence the mind goes back to their lunar-rulership. The Moon rules over the mind, emotions and subconscious. A vampire's ability to hypnotize humans and other lesser beings is in parallel to the Moon's influence over the psyche and subconscious.

This illusory nature found in vampires can be connected to the shadow planet, Rahu. As Rahu is illusions, desire, hunger. Rahu is very seductive and tempting; this could tie back to some legends in which vampires lure their prey giving them promises of pleasure.

In "Interview with the Vampire", Tom Cruise plays Lestat who is an overindulgent, greedy vampire. Rahu governs desires and the pursuit of worldly pleasures. It's related to insatiable cravings that lead to greed. The lustful nature of Rahu is seen in Lestat's intense bloodlust and the chaos it brings.

Rahu's associations with eclipses relates to their ability of being hidden in the shadows. Another hint is in Rahu being a Shadow planet itself, just like Ketu is which is also related to vampires.

The story about Rahu's head getting decapitated by Vishnu for trying to get a drink out of the nectar of immortality can be brilliantly paralleled with vampirism. Due to Rahu's consumption of the drop of the nectar, he became the infamous dismembered immortal. His dismemberment a symbol of the detachment from humanity to vampirism.

Rahu is considered an entity of darkness and malevolence, preying upon cosmic forces and defying the natural order of things (such as vampirism which does defy nature itself, ie. the dead becoming undead) in pursuit for immortality. Vampires are literal parasites, and Rahu is also parasitical. Vampires feed on humans without providing any benefit in the ecosystem in return, a one-sided relationship which resembles one between a parasite and its host. Rahu is depicted as insatiable and consuming, feeding and draining one's energy. It creates a cycle of thirsting for more without any fulfillment, a predicament vampires find themselves in.

Rahu and Ketu represent the lunar nodes, respectively depicted as the head and tail of the celestial serpent. Their energetic interaction can be likened to the endless chase between a vampire and a vampire hunter, villain and hero, the friction between unlikely lovers. It's obvious in how Rahu embodies the insatiable hunger for experiences and the craving for fulfillment that it can be the vampiric force in such a dynamic. Like a vampire, Rahu relentlessly pursues its desires, often leading to greed and excess. And then you have Ketu, on the other hand, which embodies detachment, spirituality, and liberation from worldly attachments. It quite literally symbolizes the renunciation of desires and the quest for enlightenment, opposing Rahu's restlessness for more. Ketu is a cutting force, and like a determined vampire hunter, is skilled in tracking down illusions and breaking free from temptations.

Although it sounds like a more fitting interplay between Rahu as the evil force and Ketu as the hunter, it's actually more seen in the other way around.

It is more so that Rahuvians are the vampire hunters, which I found so intriguing; showcasing how Rahu is both the parasitical (illusory), and also the one to be rid of parasites (disillusionment). And I have explored this particular theme in my Rahu post -- how Rahu natives experience a lot of disillusionment from their reality, wanting to cast away the illusions that drain the life force.

The reversal of roles showcases the fluidity of the nodes; their roles almost always expected to reverse, illustrating just how Rahu and Ketu are deeply intertwined with the concept of karma, representing the push-&-pull between cosmic forces of destiny.

More nodal-vampire movies, and other examples in which Rahu & Ketu find themselves on opposite sides of the same spectrum in which they are both vampires, similar to the friction seen between Louis (Ketu) and Lestat (Rahu) in "Interview with the Vampire".

In the film "Fright Night", the one who has to kill the villainous vampire is an Ashwini native. It is also interesting how in "Queen of the Damned" (above, right), the villain is a Magha native who must be stopped by her Mula lover -- both being vampires.

As mentioned in the figure image about the film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", where a nodal-ruled native is paired up with someone who is lunar-ruled, this is a type of pairing seen a lot in these supernatural stories.

Similarly to "Twilight", as Edward was the one to turn Bella into a vampire, we see the planetary reversal of this in which the lunar-native is the one who turns the nodal-native.

Or the film "Vamps" in which Hasta Sun, Shatabhisha Moon native Alicia Silverstone turns Mula Sun, Magha Moon native Krysten Ritter into a vampire.

It isn't a surprise that the moon and its nodes are related to the extremities of the mind. These energies can cause isolation due to how polarizing they come off in regular society (furthermore validating its relation to vampirism), so they become attracted to one another -- especially the nodal natives to the moon natives, because of how much they feel magnetized by them, and vice versa.

edit: also paul wesley could be a purva phalguni moon instead of magha, there is an unconfirmed birthtime out there + he is a pushya sun and i have noticed sun nakshatras along with saturn nakshatras in vampiric roles as well. might touch on this some time soon.

The presence of some Sun nakshatras in vampire stories is present and that could tie to the Sun's influence over the Moon despite the fact that solar symbolisms regarding vampirism don't exist, and vampires are far too sensitive to the Sun so much so that they get sunburn during the full moon where the sun's light reflects (interesting to think about). The whole point of a vampire is to lurk in the shadows or during nighttime, so the strict avoidance of the Sun could make sense in there being solar-natives in vampiric roles. It makes for an interesting contradiction, certainly.

Ketu is the body of the severed demon Rahu following the consumption of the elixir. Much like Rahu, Ketu is also associated to darkness and illusions. But it symbolizes the darker, unseen aspects of reality -- all the hidden forces and energies as I've touched on in my Ketu exploration. Ketu and Rahu are two sides of the same coin, it isn't surprising to see them share many vampiric roles/stories.

Ketu is about spiritual liberation, detachment (in this context, becoming a vampire means a harsh detachment from normality/the old life), transcendence; these existential themes are found in vampirism.

The character Louis in "Interview with the Vampire" played by Mula Sun Brad Pitt describes his existential crisis as a vampire to a Magha Sun human who interviews him.

The enhanced strength, agility, speed, hearing and all these abilities are gained after the painful transformation process, going from human to vampire. This process is seen in the film "Interview with the Vampire", Mula Sun Brad Pitt's character going through excruciating pain when turning. My mind immediately takes me to Claire Nakti's first Mula nakshatra exploration, in which she touched on the interconnection of pain and evolution for access to more powers.

Vampires are caught between worlds, trapped in a liminal space between life & death. Ketu can cause feelings of entrapment. The yearning for release from their eternal existence is a common theme, as Ketu wants to escape its body. Louis de Pointe du Lac is the best character as example of rejecting one's own nature and wanting to cease to exist.

The Treasure of the Bhadrapadas

An interesting side effect of the Spiritual Awakening that we experience between Purva Bhadrapada and Uttara Bhadrapada is the change in definition of what is truly worthy. Thus, with the expansion of our consciousness, our goals and opinions change and realign to a higher vibration also.

It's important to observe that this is a process that occurs in the Bhadrapadas, specifically, as these Nakshatras pertain to worldly achievement, both being of the Manushya gana. They are interested in human behaviors and social processes and the materialistic and psychological complexities of both individual and collective energies. Punarvasu and Pushya are instead Deva Gana, operating within the realm of abstract energies, and thus, their focus is not attached to any mundane expression of human life, even though they also represent a transition from Jupiter to Saturn. The Bhadrapadas are two halves of one whole, representing the Spiritual Draconian power and its mythological interest in obtaining and hoarding precious treasure, even if that treasure is metaphorical.

The best way to observe how this transition between the Bhadrapadas works is to analyze characters and creators of both Bhadrapada Nakshatras. I have previously written about Purva Bhadrapada in the context of Death Note and the main characters' desire to make a drastic mark on the world through their actions in society. Their focus was direct and sharp, on immediate expression of their identity and collection of appropriate results. However, in Uttara Bhadrapada, we face a crisis, which is well observed through the works of James Cameron, an Uttara Bhadrapada native himself.

While James Cameron has released many successful productions, they mostly follow the same scheme, accurately representing the stages of the Bhadrapada development.

1. Impressive Physical Accomplishment - First Bhadrapada Treasure

Cameron's works always start where Purva Bhadrapada legacy gives Uttara Bhadrapada its origin point - with a display of mass technological, social, and economic prowess based on conquest. This is depicted through awe-inspiring, mass social situations like building the largest, strongest ship or colonizing a foreign planet with impressive technology. People, including the main characters' stream of consciousness, are shown to find safety and a feeling of pride in belonging to that mass of accomplishment, and they operate almost minion-like in service of this huge, fiery Purva Bhadrapada dragon, believing in the moral righteousness and superiority of its quest and vision.

2. The Ego Trip

The feeling of pride and belonging with the Purva Bhadrapada construct, as its conquest and enjoyment of power advances, quickly turns into an ego trip that starts to become out of touch with the spiritual reality of the Universe. This happens when people procure statements like "this ship is unsinkable" and start firing that ship on all cylinders despite environmental warnings or believe they have the right to harm people from outside their preferred social group based solely on the feeling of superiority, or when people overexploit a planet's natural resources to the point of destruction. All of these situations lead to a mounting ego illusion, an ego that has no vision besides its selfish will, and doesn't stop until it's forced to. The ego trip is also what leads to the two-faced nature in the Purva Bhadrapada phase - on the surface, polite, socially abundant and socially abiding, hiding inner moral rot, just like Cameron's decrpition of the conquest of another planet is based on the invaders destroying and controlling precious elements of alien culture. This two-faced nature is precisely what Uttara Bhadrapada attempts to overcome.

3. Falling in Love, Falling out with Ego Construct

While the ego trip is still going on on the surface, the Uttara Bhadrapada consciousness starts awakening, at first only subconsciously. This typically happens through a scenario of the main character getting involved with energies existing outside of the powerful fire dragon construct. At first, their external involvement is done only in service to the construct, but then, as they spend more time free from the clutches of the Ego trip mentality, the Uttara Bhadrapada protagonist experiences feelings of genuine love and freedom, stronger than any ego attachment. This process can happen either through falling in love with someone from a different financial class or social group or interacting with a different culture, which was initially only perceived as a pool of resources. The experience of the thrill of genuinely freeing happiness is such a high spiritual vibration compared to the limited ego trip that, over time, the Uttara Bhadrapada native switches emotionally to a more profound baseline, even if externally, their allegiances appear unchanged.

4. Destruction Provokes Katharsis

The turning point in the Bhadrapada story when it comes to the moral switch is always some kind of drastic, destructive event oriented at what the Uttara Bhadrapada native has come to love. That destructive event happens in order to force them to choose sides by revealing the price one must pay for their ego trip. This process takes place through events like the ship sinking, due to the human masses being unwilling to face their own imperfection and mortality, or the destruction of hometree for the purpose of exploiting the underground resources hiding under the branches. Through this destruction, after seeing the true nature of their false past alignments, the Uttara Bhadrapada native changes sides for good. This is manifested through acts such as escaping one's family and social class with one's true love and giving up financial status or standing on the side of the alien natives even against one's own species. In this process, the Uttara Bhadrapada native is purified, finally joined on the right moral side, and ready to give up everything for that true righteousness.

5. Firm Spiritual Commitment - Second Bhadrapada Treasure

The final stage of Uttara Bhadrapada is a complete reevaluation of what was important all along their journey and realizing where the Bhadrapada Treasure is truly located.

This is where Uttara Bhadrapada grows into feeling that finding the treasure of true, deep immortal love, wisdom, and understanding is more important than any social or financial rewards.

While Brock didn't find the diamond, and the safe dug up from the Titanic was empty in the financial sense, he found a real treasure inside - Jack's drawings, which brought him to meeting Rose and learning the immortal story of true love and genuine understanding of the tragic history of human death and the undefeated power of nature.

While Jake lives a simple life in nature without many riches away from the civilisation he was raised in, in his new body he found community, family, and real love and organic belonging in tune with the planet, all of which shaped his life into something worthwhile.

All of these discoveries now give an Uttara Bhadrapada native a feeling of spiritual and emotional commitment to a higher, immortal force, whether that is through romantic love, family love, or simply spiritual respect. It is all a form of Universal love, which asks for no superifcial rewards but endures all simply for the sake of the righteous belief in the feeling of cosmic alignment.

Shravana Nakshatra

piggy backing off of previous post, these natives are really good at reading between the lines and noticing what others usually miss in order to win in tough situations. one of the symbols of shravana being the conch.

kerry washington (shravana sun), played olivia pope in the ABC series scandal. no matter how bad a situation gets, she always finds a way out by catching what everyone else missed and even using people to her advantage. her infamous line, “it’s handled” is used often in the show because everytime she gets ahold of a situation, it’s handled. her team calls her a “gladiator” because she can basically glide through literal scandals and political messes like it’s nothing.

viola davis (shravana moon), played annalise keating in the abc serious how to get away with murder. she’s also a similar character to olivia pope. with every client she deals with and every case, she always finds a piece of information that turns the decision in her favor. even with the murder and cover ups surrounding her students, she was constantly finding a way to protect them.

madison bailey (shravana sun) who plays kiara in outer banks was all about being a pogue. she was all about defending her pogue friends and was constantly rebelling against her parents for being apart of the pogue life.

alisha boe (shravana moon), played jessica davis in 13 reasons why. her whole storyline is about speaking up and forcing people to acknowledge the truth. in one episode, she started protesting at the homecoming football game and turned something that was supposed to be celebratory into a conversation about sexual assault. and even after everything she went through, she didn’t stay silent and let other control the narrative. she was in control of her story.

i feel like that’s very shravana. having the courage to speak on things people would rather ignore.

these women are very self assured and have confidence in the things they say because they know it to be true.

jessica lange (shravana moon), and all of her characters in american horror story have this presence where people naturally listen when she speaks. as fiona good in coven, she was always on step ahead of everyone and was always watching which allowed her to observe and keep mental notes. as constance langdon in murder house, she somehow knew everyone’s business and always had information others didn’t. she always seemed to have a plan or some piece of information that would fully keep her in control of every situation.
