"Vanessa is certainly a choice..." Blair muttered the words to herself as she read the blast about Chuck and Vanessa for the fourth time. His actions had no affect on her; absolutely none. Chuck could do whatever and whoever he liked, but why did her friends keep insisting on slumming it with the Brooklynites?

Hello Gossipers... I don't want to throw you straight into the deep end tonight, I know you're all having fun. But remember, I still haven't forgiven and forgotten what you did to me. It still wasn't very nice and so many of you still have to make up for it. So, without further ado, I want to talk to you... Vanessa Abrams. Just real quick, okay? You might end up thanking me. While I know he won't mind one bit having this one revealed - why would he? - I know you will. Did you know that Vanessa hooked up with the one and only Chuck Bass? They say the line between love and hate is so very thin... you can just imagine how it happened. Not exactly the best way to stay on your high horse, V. Now, just between us, are you going to be more upset if Dan Humphrey cares or doesn't care about it? I bet it'll hurt either way. And you, Bella Coates. I'm not particularly mad at you, to be honest. I've always rooted for you and I know you were only following Blair's lead. After all, what else would you do with your time if you didn't? If Blair says 'jump', you say 'how high'. It's not just blind loyalty though, is it? All these years... I mean, I'm doing you a favour. You can finally get over it now, right? Being in love with Blair Waldorf. Unrequited feelings are a bitch, aren't they? I hope I've helped you both along in your journey. Much love. XOXO

'Vanessa?'
'...wait, what?'
This weekend, Bella was having an exclusive party at her family's home in the Hamptons. Today, on her canonically accurate birthday, however she was enjoying drinks and cutthroat gossip with her nearest and dearest (and some others). The Palace was a reliable spot that kept away most unwanted guests. Most.
Bella was just about to say something else scathing when she turned and saw them, her brows raising- "Oh, hi. Are you joining?"
@tfrstarters
Blair watched in horror as Bella's attention drifted from the group as she addressed some straggler. This was supposed to be a gathering of–her words–her nearest and dearest; it couldn't very well stay that way if she was going to pull in strays. "Bella, please, of course they're not joining. Look at their shoes." She rolled her eyes and turned back to her drink. "Now, what were you saying about the latest gossip blast?"
"look, i'm here because it's for the company. atticus runs this shit like ghost protocol, i have no concerns. i'm on best behaviour tonight, he doesn't need my ass stressing him out. it's the least i can do for him"
@tfrstarters
"The great Chuck Bass... brought down by a cocktail party." Blair shook her head before sipping on her Dom Pérignon, "Though, I'm sure your best behaviour could easily equate to someone else's worst."
Dan had been spending most of his time working on a short story whenever he wasn't at school. He had been tutoring in his free time to make some extra cash, but it had not been going too well. Most of the people he had been working with were pushing him. Definitely a little too far.
He was sitting with his head in his hands, coffee forgotten as he stared at his laptop. "I cannot keep looking at this, it's so bad." @tfrstarters
Dan's voice carried to her ears and she visibly cringed. Why must she be cursed to run into him when she was on her own, minding her own business? Was it too much to grab some croissants in peace? She might have thrown him that birthday party for the sake of Gossip Girl's destruction, but why couldn't the end of his relationship with Serena have been the end of his relationship with the Upper East Side? "What could possibly be so dire that it's outshining the rest of the tragedy that is your existence?"
cupid’s match → power & control
@b-laircwaldorf
this was stupid. this was so fucking stupid. atticus was not meant to be at this event for a match, he came to wish logan a happy birthday after work and next thing he knew he was made to submit a fact into the match up box. it was his own fault, he was too busy replying to work related texts on his phone that he was caught in a moment of distraction.
given a key, a card and abruptly sent on his way before he could protest, atticus found himself in a room waiting for his supposed match to walk through the door, his time taken up with an incoming work call that was too important to ignore.
Control. Sure, it was pretty funny that she–someone who loved power–had been paired with someone who loved control, but there was no way that this was a match made in heaven. Blair wasn't about to give up any sort of control to another person, so the night was already set up for disaster.
Pushing open the door to the sound of her match on a call was almost enough to make her turn on her heel and leave, but then she noticed exactly who was on the call–Atticus Bass. Admittedly, Blair found herself a little disappointed that she hadn't been paired with a different Bass, but she was nowhere near drunk enough to unpack that. "I hope you don't plan on taking calls all night."
Here it was: the true test of Georgina Sparks' character arc so far. Had she been wasting her life this past year, trying to right wrongs and become a better person? Or could she really, truly do it? It was one thing to accept that Serena would never love her - not how she wanted - and never as the girl she used to be. It was one thing to not choose to destroy at every time. But it was quite another to be faced with her longtime nemesis, Blair Waldorf, and play nice.
A hundred horrible remarks waited patiently to pass Gigi's lips, but none were allowed out. "I... am. Obvi, I am. You're many things, Blair Waldorf, but ugly isn't one of them."
A sickly sweet smile appeared on Blair's face as Georgina Sparks replied to her. Of course she had heard that the other girl was trying to be a better person–or some garbage like that–but to witness her struggle was simply divine. It was no secret that Blair and Georgina loathed each other, but here she was trying to compliment her. Tragic. "Well, go on then..." She said, expectantly. "Tell me I'm beautiful." Saying that she 'wasn't ugly' just wouldn't do.
chuck bass was a man of many pleasures and whatever the back and forth he had with blair was one of the many. there were few people that could simultaneously entertain and match chuck in his mind games, but she was the best of them.
"fishing for compliments this early in the night? where's that waldorf confidence?"
Blair's head tilted as she turned her attention to Chuck, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. The man was insufferable sometimes, but honestly? There was no one she would rather be in the presence of.
"Oh Chuck," She emphasised his name, "My confidence is very much intact. Have you considered that maybe I enjoy knowing who I have complete control over?" Actually, it was mildly irritating that he didn't scramble over himself to please her like so many others.
What an absolute disaster; not the party itself, of course–Blair would never dream of insulting a Logan Hunter soiree–but the people! Most of them–thank god–seemed to be capable of telling the difference between Parisian decadence and an abysmally designed can-can Halloween costume, but some weren't even trying to hide the cheap stitching between their sequins!
Lifting a champagne flute from a passing tray, Blair brought it to her lips and tried to lose herself to the vibes instead of the third of the room that was grating on her. "Well? Aren't you going to tell me how breathtaking I look?"
