Are you really arrogant or are they just insecure?
I’ve noticed that some people are a bit hesitant to work on their self concept because they think that it’s “too cringe”, “too corny”, or “too egotistical/narcissistic”. And most of the time, we only say those words because that’s what we hear from our friends/peers. We sometimes pick up behaviors and habits from what we observe from the things that we always surround ourselves.
When we exhibit behaviors of self love or self confidence, you’ll hear people snicker and talk behind your back how you’re “so full of yourself”, “you’re so boastful”, “arrogant” etc. (like what celebrities, mostly women, experience from haters.) But are you really what they say you are, or are they just insecure so they project their own insecurities to you? Are you really a bitch, or are they just pathetic themselves and can’t grasp the concept of self love? Are you really egotistical, or are they never content with themselves so they pick other people apart to feel better about themselves?
Those words, “narcissism”, “egotistic”, “god complex” etc., often comes from insecurity. Hiding insecurity by masking it with unhealthy levels of arrogance. Bringing other people down and shoving them to the side just to feel better. Being mean and talking shit about other people because you think everyone is below you. Not being respectful and critiquing everyone over their own journey.
But let me tell you, self concept is NOT the same as that. Self concept is not just about thinking that you’re hot shit; it’s about being able to be self assured, confident, content, and overall feel better about yourself without thinking negatively about yourself. It’s about having a bad day, but instead of dwelling on it, you give yourself a break yet you bounce back in the end. It’s about walking into a room without comparing yourself to other people. It’s about not feeling bad about yourself when someone makes a slight funny joke about you. It’s about being proud of every achievement that you have, big or small. It’s about not letting people walk all over you. It’s about not feeling jealous. It’s about knowing what you’re worth and what you deserve in life.
Are you really narcissistic or do you just love yourself?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being confident. What do you care about what other people say about you? At least you don’t thrive of jealousy, insecurity, and negativity instead of being happy for others. Be proud of who you are, never be ashamed. Don’t change yourself just to please other people.
You’ll see beautiful things blossoming once you work on your self concept; manifesting or not.
