Last time I checked a slur is based off something you can’t control like race, ethnicity, religion, and etc. Your historical fact is in fact wrong and actually an outdated argument used by racist white people during slavery in American history. It was not just an insult against poor, southern Americans but a phrase that relates to how white people back then treated black people like cattle. While also relating to the sound of a whip cracking in the back of black people. This can also be changed on multiple perspectives since I’m also indigenous and know the horrors of colonization on my people. This can be expanded on that they pushed indigenous people out of their homes and made them walk miles. Not to mention, the beatings with whips if they didn’t move fast enough even on children. Even back then white people had the choice to not slave, colonize, and destroy homes race/ethnic minorities. So, the use of the definition I mentioned before in my first sentence cannot be used on the phrase “cracker”.

Yes, i can admit nowadays the phrase cracker is today as a joke between people whose cis race isn’t white. It however isn’t used as an insult towards a “stupid white person”. If you take it seriously, then that’s on you personally.

Also, the reason most non-american countries don’t view this as a slur is because of the historical wide acceptance of slavery in the European continent or the disconnect of culture from non-European white people. As in someone who is white but raised in a spot where they’re not seen as there race but as there ethnicity or the not around the notion that them being white is a life changing difference.

Oh, btw any race can say the word “cracker” because every race has been affected historically by white people. Also, white people have also been against their own race based on cultural differences or for personal gain. This is highlighted in Operation Barbarossa, The reformation, and many more events handled with violence in mind.

You probably took the start of the information from this source ( cracker term ) without reading the whole thing. Next time read everything before jumping to conclusions. ( Just a suggestion )

All it takes is a good google search chain to find all this out. My special interest is history so . . .try to find something to fact check. If you reply with “oh well” it only talks about your character as a person.
