It breaks my heart every time I tell myself to stop looking at you or letting your figure come into mind, because who could ever be smiling when you’re telling yourself to let go of what makes you the happiest.

And tonight, just like last night and the night before, I will close my eyes and imagine what I once had. I won’t fight the memory of him wrapping his arms around me in the middle of the night as much as I should. I’m going to imagine his kisses, his warmth, the half-asleep desire. I shouldn’t replay these memories anymore. The past is nothing more than what’s in my mind. I can’t help it though. Those were my happiest, quietest moments.
