Okay. So. I like making AUs and I know people *like* AUs.

What are some of y'alls favorite AU tropes or themes?

Wonder if John has given Lup the same warnings about red robes and how they're not to be trusted as Lucretia did to the bob

One Hundred Percent except instead of warning her to run, he gives her the order to 'kill on sight' if she ever sees a person in a red robe. Unless they're a dwarf. He can maybe talk to the dwarf.

The last thing John needs is for the rest of the Starblaster crew to ruin his fun and ruin his own chances to be independent from the rest of The Hunger.

Definitely against workplace policy to date people who are trying to destroy the world but nobody else sits and listens so intently to Barry's takes on Theoretical Planar Physics and follows what he's saying with falling asleep. (Also she's just so very pretty and smart and cool. Sure she's a tad evil but they can confront that aspect later.)

Took a vote and the Sad Taakitz's/Black Flame au won. I couldn't make it *too* sad (yet). Bittersweet more like?

OH what if taako was found by one of the hogsbottom three?

He'd be SO much more confused. Why is there a dragonborn singing at him? Is his life not hard enough? Why are they insisting on joining his journey? He's pretty sure he can handle traveling on his own without another somehow filthy rendition of "99 Bottles of Mead".

I'm slowly starting to write and I'm thinking of how Taako survived being fish'd while on land.

I figure he must have been saved by some very benevolent folk who would be glad to take in some rando elf in a red robe who is facedown in the mud in the middle of the road with very few questions.

I think Taako may have been rescued by some members of the Redcheek clan who definitely would have fed him, helped him recover and, for a price (maybe a few weeks of work?), set him up with a cart and donkey before he began to make his way in the world.

Thankfully he knows his name only because it was written on the tag of his fancy red robe.

Which they almost definitely patched up.

I think I'm on the right track with Lup not being the only one under the control of the Hunger.

Just the most obvious.

Maybe it's one of the Reclaimers? Barry? Magnus? Merle?

Does anybody pay close enough attention to Edward and Lydia, or even their little brother, the sickly little Keats?

What's Daniel Butler been up to in his off time?

Does the Voidfish seem a little... darker lately?

Ren, Taako and Kravitz stalwart companion?

What about Taako and/or Kravitz? It's not like they haven't seen the Hunger's influence in the world.

Who can and cannot be trusted in this AU?

Taako found some strange kids.

Taako is teaching them how to set fires and make s’mores until he can figure out who they belong to.

Does Lucretia still end up with 20 years gone? Or worse?

Well, Edward and Lydia (and their brother) never end up with the Bell and never end up making Wonderland. So this Lucretia maintains all her youthful vitality... for now.

So now the only thing haunting her is the regrets she has over how she betrayed her family, (almost definitely losing two of them in the process by accident), and letting the Relics go out into the world.

Guess we'll have to think of another deeply emotional sacrifice for our favorite Bureau Director. :3c

Black Flame AU- The Deal

Lup had found herself in bad situations before.

This wasn’t a new occurrence in the slightest. Just another blip on her count of brushes with death. This brush was getting a little too close for comfort though.

She stared down the smouldering form of a dwarf that lay in front of her, puffing front the last several minutes of raining curses and curse-words on him for what he had done.
