Bedtime Once-ler 30 Day Challenge: Day 7

7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?

BT’s past relationships have not been emotionally fruitful. If he could, he would not date the people he has dated in the past due to the fact that they either suffered emotional trauma because of his actions, or vice versa. He has trust issues and is self-conscious because of this.

6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.

BT normally did not recieve any birthday or christmas gifts from his parents because they were not well off. but his very first gift was a Seydel Blues Solist Pro harmonica that he got on his fifth birthday.

BT has convinced himself that he is not good at much. he is not a good Onceler, or a good horticulturist, or a good businessman, or a good boyfriend/friend. to him, he isn't good at anything. however, the only thing that he knows he's good at, without any doubts, is playing the harmonica.

his happiest memory is receiving his harmonica because, even though there are people giving him the support he needs, what is most important is that he has faith in himself. his harmonica is the sole item keeping BT in check with himself. without it and his skills, he would definitely not be where he is today.

5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the KINSEY SCALE? 

i took the Kinsey Scale Test as if i were BT anwering, and the result he received is a 2, or "predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual."

however there could be some fallacies in this score, seeing as he is has a preference for women, but an even stronger preference for Once-lers. he has only fallen head-over-heels for a non-Onceler man on a couple of occasions, while he has no trouble finding most of the women he encounters attractive, and all of the Oncelers he has met he has found attractive

4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive? 

I guess you could say that! He's (almost exclusively) attracted to other Once-lers, so to some degree he finds himself attractive. However, he does not like his freckles.

3.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?

He is emotionally scarred up but I'm not about to throw a pity party for BT, so.

He's got a few scars on his right knuckle from punching a Thneed Machine repeatedly out of frustration and breaking his hand. He also has a very faint scar on his left cheek from a fall he had as a child (actually his first narcolepsy based accident). It's not terribly visible even from up close.

Bedtime Once-ler 30 Day Challenge: Day 2

2.) What are your characters most prominent physical features?

BT's overall softness is a defining characteristic. He's well known for being a comfortable guy to lay on/nap on/do anything on really. His hair is soft, his skin is soft, etc. Additionally, he's not as thin as most Once-lers, albeit not overweight. His stomach is not defined nor svelte, but rather soft and squishy (his cheeks are also pudgy). He's more freckled than most Once-lers, and they can often be found not only on his face but on his shoulders, the tops of his ears, and his arms. But by far his most famous feature is his strange, sensitive, heart-shaped ahoge. When touched, it becomes somewhat of a sexual stimulant, and most people are forbidden to lay a finger on it for any reason. It cannot be repressed nor cut off/pulled out, as it always grows back with the same shape and stimulating characteristic.

Bedtime Once-ler 30 Day Challenge: Day 1

1.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?

BT was mostly an emotionally neglected child. His father left his mother to "travel" after his twin brothers were born. BT was about four years old when his father left, so he doesn't remember much about him. At age 11, BT began experiencing symptoms of narcolepsy, which is mother passed off as laziness and a refusal to follow his curfew. After about a year of phone calls from the school about BT's inappropriate nap times, his mother reluctantly pulled him out of school and began teaching him how to do farm work.

BT's narcolepsy has gotten him into a series of mishaps, including a barn fire (his pet cow died in that fire, but that's a very important and long story to explain), a near drowning, and countless ruined meals (he falls asleep in his breakfast/lunch/dinner a lot. Oops!). His mother became frustrated with BT's sleeping patterns, and ultimately gave up on him around age 14. There weren't necessarily any high expectations for BT, but he went the distance to make his mother happy. Although, his mother clearly favored her twin boys over BT.

To this day, BT still busts his rear to win his mother's affection back. He has packed his things to start a new business to try and make her proud of him again. But there is such a lack of faith from 13 years of "laziness", she expects failure and disappointment from him (which unfortunately, that's all she's gotten the past 2+ years he's been away). His mother also disapproves of his sexual orientation/partner choices, since she expected grandchildren out of BT (another disappointment, by the way).

His relationship with his mother is very once-sided. He makes regular attempts to contact her, but has not gotten an answer since shortly after his first marriage.

hhheeeey so im gonna do a 30 day challenge for bt, incie, and (maybe) somni

and im gonna do 'em in that order

"bt has a crush on everyone!!!" well yeah when life at home is less than reasonable and your family thinks youre a waste of space and a hopeless moron and youve gone the majority of your life without any particular kind of physical or emotional affection, you might warm up to people as easily as he does too

bt is the guy that calls and orders pizza and then flirts with the pizza guy/girl on the other end of the line for the next twenty minutes

please consider my decision to change BT's suit design juuuust a tiny bit

rose-colored glasses. it's symbolism to describe how badly he wants to have a positive outlook on life, despite his hardships. he's forcing himself to see the glass half full, so it works as a nice metaphor.

all this time im trying to figure out how i can make bt's blog more interesting and then it hit me like a ton of bricks sad backstory
