My focus for 2020 is on self love and self care. While some would see putting one’s own health and well-being a seemingly natural priority, it is often a practice tossed to the side for more empathic beings. The practice of self love is sometimes overlooked without noticing because we are sometimes more focused on making everyone around us happier. However, I don’t think self love and self care are a completely narcissistic act. One can not forget that our society and created environments affect our well-being and health. Caring and loving those we surround ourselves with, the ones who make our own self healthier and happier, is just as important to self care. Unless you are happiest alone, at home, and working alone, it is unrealistic to think that putting care into those around you won’t create a healthier self. It is important to recognize when you are putting your energy into the wrong areas and not being reciprocated the same energy. And it is more important to realize that energy lost is ultimately energy regained when stepping away from bad relationships or friendships. Lastly, while it is almost too natural to get angry, upset, sad, jealous, etc when you realize your energy has been wasted, remember you don’t know what is going on in someone else’s life. You don’t know what makes another person suck energy from someone else. While it is easiest to put that negative energy onto someone else, it isn’t always the healthiest to manifest that energy, and that negative energy can also cast a shadow over your self love. Basically don’t marinate in your negativity and project that energy back out into existence. Take a deep breath, have a good cry, and cut your loses, then move on without animosity.
