back to working on PL's rewrite, y'all. once I've gotten a few chaps in, I'll put it up as a new work and post it up here so yall can read

ive just decided that techtwist is a fell au where the monsters succeeded in extracting and refining DT for combat use and the story takes place generations after they retake the surface and turn it into a techno-dystopia

flint and steel arrive in the alpha universe after stepping through a nether portal and when theyre confronted by the others they dont even panic at this point, theyre just like "hm. weird dimension. could be weirder." bc nothing scares them after fighting baba yaga.

everyone thinks that beat's exosuit is bonded to her bones bc of how rampant cybernetic modding is and shes gotten tired of correcting people so now whenever someone asks she tells them she can punch their block off if itll answer their question

im thinking their world is mostly fell??? which is why theyre privately funded bounty hunters and excelling in the biz

everyone is scared of flare bc she doesnt talk. its bc she stutters and it embarrasses her. shes actually quite nice beneath the perpetual rbf.

beat's first invention was a homicidal coffee machine. the homicidal part was an accident but it grew on her so now stabby the caffeinated psychopath is kind of her pet.

why does flare wear a gas mask? ostensibly for breath control during combat. actually because shes an edgy motherfucker who specifically plans her outfits to be as badass as physically possible.

they have constant prank wars that usually escalate into property damage. the ability to remotely program almost everything does not help.

they kind of accidentally adopted a refugee from a government enforcer program that put them on a hit list??? but hell if theyre gonna give up sync to some government stooge. this kid is part of the serif family now.

flare is the only one with visible cybernetic mods, but beat's are the most extensive. she has a full neural net to remote control her gadgets and host her 'phone', whereas flare just has magic condensers and amplifiers to boost her somewhat lacking capacity/stamina.

cyberpunk 2077 and related shenanigans is making me want to write techtwist and flesh out flare and beat some more but im too busy with the lab to actually commit

i think i will bring them into parallel lines tho, ive been debating if more oc timelines would be too confusing or not but i need these girls in my life

i have decided though that i want flare to have a magic railgun and beat a power gauntlet a la fallout because fuck yes

#the question is should i swap their gear #flare would look badass with the gas mask bc of her trench coat #but it would make sense for her to have the tactical visor with a railgun #and i cant really see beat in a gas mask considering her exosuit #esp since her visor is meant to aid with engineering and calibrating her gadgets #aaaah decisions #maybe ill go full garrus with flare #techtwist

im assuming everyone has noticed by now but parallel lines is delayed because my lab finally opened up and im a key player in it rn, so i havent had time to do much but eat sleep and occasionally reply to rps. ive drafted how the next couple major plot events are gonna go but until i get to sit down and actually work that means bupkis.

so yeah, id like to thank everyone for having patience while this hectic period of my life works itself out

I think adding a reader to ‘Parallel lines’ is a very cool idea! If you want my opinion tho? I’m kinda really enjoying the skelebros interaction and slowly finding out about Rune’s past. If a reader was to be added, could it maybe be much later in the story? Or as a separate spin off linked to the original? In the end tho, it’s your story, and I’m sure it’ll be great no matter what! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far, and am excited to see where it goes! Xx

but yeah, my plan was to delay it a while until rune's been integrated more into the household, then possibly introduce the reader character as a friend of one of the others or even possibly as a therapist who's there to help rune adjust. i was also thinking about polling readers on certain details, like style, hair/eye color, personality, and nickname! that way it's a community insert instead of just another oc :]

right now it's all up in the air since the story is in its infancy, so I'll keep thinking it over and watching reader opinions until i feel it's appropriate to make a final decision.

i don't yet, but i will soon! tomorrow is one of my days off from work and i can use it to finally build that side page ive been meaning to that describes them all in brief :] I'll make sure to post a link, so check back later!

the list of things ive done recently:

rewrote part of ch7

started on ch8 (from what i remember of ch7, because i had ideas)

fleshed out some of peacetale's lore

built a cyberpunk r63 au (techtwist) from the ground up

finalized a few details about rune's brother and backstory to be revealed later

renamed horrortale/horrorfell/horrorswap/horrorflip bros and also redid some of hfe and hs's storylines (still thinking on hfl)

played too many video games at work because samples are delayed

maybe i shld write down some info about the aus so people can ask abt them... mb

should i go full trope and add a human for some skeleromcom. i could work in some interesting story beats with it but i'm not entirely certain how it would affect the story's gravity.

fun fact: the crack on sage's forehead is on that side because he's semi based on me and i have a dent in the right side of my forehead from my older brother hitting me with a metal baseball bat when i was 12

i also intentionally wanted to invoke gaster's image when you put butch and sage side by side (their cracks are each akin to one of his) to allude to them not exactly being your traditional skeleton pair
