Update: June 15, 2015
I’ve been doing a terrible job of keeping up with my natural hair blog. I guess it was partially because after cutting all of my hair off, I figured it would die down for a while. This is my attempt to get back into the swing of things. It’s been a month since cutting my hair. I’m extremely impatient. I want growth.
At times, I find myself getting extremely self-conscious. For instance, this one time I went to eat with my family and the waiter mistook me for a boy. It wouldn’t have hurt my pride as much if my family didn’t keep bringing up the fact that I look just like my brother. It’s like, why is it such a taboo for women to have short hair? I really want to know.

I did it! I cut all of my hair off and I feel like a mother-freaking rock star. I haven’t looked at myself and felt bad yet. I am loving my cut and myself more and more. On Monday, May 11th, I decided to do another big chop. Many things contributed to this: stubborn heat damage, I had already cut my sides off, and I just wanted something new. I didn’t know what to think when I got in that barber’s chair. He kept asking me if I was sure and I’ll admit...that made me nervous. Before I had the opportunity to change my mind I felt the clippers hacking away all of my hair. At first I thought I was going to look crazy but it turned out really nice. I went with a guy friend to get it done and he liked it...so I knew it had to be stellar. I am excited to see what the results will be in one year. I’m thinking about taking some hair pills. Any recommendations?
For years I have struggled with my self esteem. I was never satisfied with the way God made me…but now I am. These past four years of college has made me appreciate even the little details God created. On May 11th, 2015, I’ve decided to big chop again. I am dedicating this summer to building a better me: emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I know it’ll be a journey, so I thank those in advance that’ll walk with me. 😘
May the next few months be a period of magnificent transformation.

Please stop complaining about people’s thick accents. They learned an entire language, allowing them to communicate with you; the least you could do is respect that.
Before my sew in.
See this is why I don't let my hair air dry. It doesn't know how to act! 😫lol
