SMALL WONDER

Small Wonder is the stage name of Henry Crawford. I believe he lives in NYC, and he plays with some other bands on the record label The Epoch. 

And holy shit is he good.

Listening to Small Wonder feels like walking down a street at three am with a 40oz bottle of Old English with your best friend after a breakup. 

These are a couple of songs you should listen to right now. (they are not on his bandcamp unfortunately) He is a wonderful songwriter, and his almost hyper-honest style can take you aback a little bit, because it does feel like he is baring to you his raw feelings. The three songs I linked above are all acoustic live recordings, which is fairly different from what he has up on bandcamp. His two albums, Every Which Way is Upwards and ¿Quien Es? ¿Quien Es? are much fuzzier and, dare I say, grungier with a splash of keys. He also has a cover of Indian Summer by Beat Happening which I love.

Give him a listen. I promise that Wind Let Loose will be your new favorite song.

And he just released his new album at midnight! He has been working on it for the past four years, and the fact that he finally released it is a big deal, and it is genuinely an honor to be able to listen to something someone so talented has put so much into. I am listening through it now. You should too.

COSMONAUT

Cosmonaut is a four piece indie rock outfit from New York City that I had the pleasure of hanging out with this Saturday evening when they played at my school and let me tell you it was one of the most fun shows I have seen in a while. They played late, so there was only about thirty people in the audience, but everyone was dancing and the vibe was incredible.

Their music is pretty much what you’d expect from a four piece indie rock outfit from New York City, but they pull it off perfectly. The single “Your Knife (My Side)” that I linked to above honestly feels like the background music for a scene in an indie movie from the 90s when the protagonists/main love interests go to a local venue for a show for their first date and have a great time before the Boy Loses Girl. 

This sounds sarcastic, but I genuinely really love it. Check them out. They only have their 4 track EP up on bancamp, but you should give it a listen.

So because I suck and can’t make the effort to do my radio show anymore, I haven’t been posting playlists because I haven’t been doing my show. 

SO. Instead of just giving up on this as a whole, I’m going to just post random bands that I think are good with short write ups about them. If you want to submit one, do! I would love to hear from you. 

I’m pretty lazy so I don’t know how regular this will be.
