Hello there. It’s been a while since I was last here.
I took a bit of a step back over the past few months. In early September, a mass was found in my abdomen, and I have surgery scheduled for January. It shifted my focus in ways I didn’t expect, and this page naturally moved into the background while I adjusted and tried to process everything at my own pace.
I’ve also been moving more quietly than usual. I battle with depression, and when life gets heavy, I tend to retreat a little, so I disengaged from most social media aside from WhatsApp for work. Instead, I leaned into things that felt comforting and familiar: binge-reading fantasy novels and revisiting BTS content like Bon Voyage, concerts, and Are You Sure season 1. It helped more than I can explain.
I missed a lot.
Coming back after that pause has been surprisingly eye-opening. I’ve been lurking for the past two weeks, catching up, and so much of what I’m seeing now feels… small. Things that once would have pulled me in or made me defensive just don’t land the same anymore. I mostly find myself observing and moving on.
I keep thinking: why do people care so much? And maybe more importantly: why did I?
Today I saw a tweet of an ARMY defending Taehyung’s looks to a kpoppie, and my only thought was: why bother? Tae is gorgeous. Someone else’s opinion doesn’t change that.
That quiet disengagement extended to Jikook as well.
When the whole Jimin situation happened earlier, I had already decided to take a step back. I accepted the explanations given and let them be. My initial reaction, if I’m being honest, was disappointment, not because he’s imperfect, but because I had placed him somewhere far too untouchable in my own mind.
I’m always talking about idols being human, about letting them live, make choices, stumble, and grow. Somewhere along the way, I stopped extending that same grace to Jimin. I had, without realizing it, put him on a pedestal. That realization alone told me it was time to breathe, reassess, and give myself some distance. And then the news about my health hit ...
Since coming back though, I’ve caught up on a lot of things and most importantly on Are You Sure season 2, and I have a few thoughts:
Nothing has changed between Jimin and Jungkook. They are still each other’s person, each other’s safe space. Eff anyone who thinks otherwise.
Those boys can eat. Good lord!
Jimin's princess treatment remains undefeated.
Jimin is a born comedian
Jungkook is still my soft boy
Jungkook's head is still full of "Jimin, Jimin, Jimin"
They needed that trip; something in them softened, something healed.
We’ll probably never fully understand what they went through in the military, but you can feel how deeply they needed this time.
They want to do this for a long time.
Best season yet!! I will rewatch this over and over again
I am sad it comes to an end next week
Jimin and Jungkook will always be dear to my heart. WHO was my most-streamed song on Spotify, and Golden was my most-streamed album. They’re my comfort and my joy. These two are familiar in a way that doesn’t fade. Before I appreciated their bond, I had first loved them as artists and that has not changed and probably never will.
Watching the current wave of hate aimed at Jungkook, though, has been genuinely painful. He doesn’t deserve it, not in the slightest. It’s hard to witness, even from a distance.
And this is where I find myself now. The view I had before my hibernation based on Jimin's situation and what I have caught up on since coming back has cemented my stance.
I’ve loosened my grip on needing their bond to be anything other than what it already is. I no longer look for meaning beyond what they choose to show. What exists between them feels complete on its own: quiet, steady and not asking to be interpreted.
They’re still my favorite set of best friends. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is the way I hold them. I’m learning to love from a softer place, one that allows people to simply be without turning closeness into a question that needs answering. I can appreciate the care they show each other without shaping it into a story.
So I’m choosing that.
I’m still here. Still fond. Standing a little further back now, watching with warmth, breathing easier, and quietly at peace with the distance. I’ll still scream about Jikook but this time without getting caught up in shipping or drama. I’m just enjoying the view and happily retired from speculation.
