Hi! I was just wondering, you mentioned in a Bamon post that DE ended up with a lot of book!Bamon scenes. I'm not familiar with the books, so what book!Bamon scenes were stolen? And what is the bathtub scene?
Hi!! No, the bathtub scene wasn’t stolen, thank god, no. But there were many, like when Damon dies in 2x22 beside Elena he say he is sorry for everything, in the books is with Bonnie. Or when Elena died, all the epic scene with the car crash and them underwater is how happens with Bonnie’s in books.
The show also showed that Damon met Elena before anyone else, before the pilot, *at least we know of, we don’t know what more tvd can show when/if he met another character before* shared a moment and then erased her memories. Ghrrrrrr, In the books prequel, Damon saves Bonnie at night while she was at library studying, they have an imediate connection, he helps her and brings her home, when they’re saying their goodbyes, they kiss, but he knows they couldn’t be together, he is an old vampire and she is just a student, regular girl, too innocent, so he erases her memories while they kiss, when she gets back to ‘normal’ she only see his crow. That captives her heart. The books ended and Bonnie never knew Damon had saved and kissed and met her before anyone else. That what he feels and they had coming a long way. LJ had plans to write this, and it was kind obvious she would make BD endgame, well, until she be fired by the books publishing bc they didn’t want that, they wanted the triangle keep going w DE being endgame, thats when ghostwrite come to place and SCREWED EVERYTHING. *CW is doing the exactly same thing*
LJ Smith just had written this scene of their first real meeting years ago and posted that and Plec didn’t blink and just took and gave to DE *in her own way* in 3x22. Those scenes were important to us, so yeah, it kind really sucks when we see giving to others.
And there were many other little moments, like when Elena talk to the girls/Caroline in how was to be with Damon, that happens in books when Caroline see that something happened between Bonnie and Damon *later in books* and Bonnie admits they kissed *this time she remembers lol, so she thinks* and Carol asked how she felt and Bonnie only could say she felt like fireworks.
Plus, there is all that thing tvd writers like to put in quotes in this show that Elena makes Damon human, when anyone whos not blind and watch this show KNOWS that is NOT true. As much writers force that quote on audience is Bonnie on show who makes Damon become better and touch his humanity, at least I feel better w that, but I roll eyes, bc the line of it, specially Stefan, say that Damons feels human bc Elena is bs to me, and in books he says to Damon that Bonnie is actually the one who touches that part of him.
And there many other moments that I’m pretty sure I completely forgot right now.
But the bathtub scene. No.that scene is one of the most BEAUTIFUL, MEANINGFUL, POWERFUL, LOVING AND REAL scene in tvd books EVER. That scene is so dramaticly tragic and well written, We see how much Damon loves her, how HUMAN she makes him feel. The one who makes him cry. After Bonnie being kidnapped and attaked and poisoned and being underwater getting completely frozen, Damon finds her and come to house with her, he puts hot water in bathtub, bc the temperature,to help her, she’s is pure ice. For that he strips her, clothes, bra, he just didn’t take off her panties. *can sounds very sexual, but it’s not like that, even if he realizes how beautiful she is, he is very respectful, he’s more determinated in save her life* so he puts her in water, but she just there, dead. No heartbeat, no breathe. He basically shoves his own blood in her mouth in hopes she would come back since she’s still, she doesn’t move, doesn’t suck. Nothing happens, he just stay there for hours, completely LOST. He puts a towel in the water to cover her body in respect. Stefan even tries talk to him seeing Damon’s agony and Elena realize he loves Bonnie, (romantically speaking). OH MAN, YOU JUST HAVE TO READ THAT SCENE OK. IT’S FUCKING EPIC. The way JL describe Damon’s FEELINGS, the monster, the big vampire badass full of darkness, breaking inside because she is there dead in front his eyes. I CAN’T EVEN, and then after hours of nothing there’s THE moment. And his reaction, his FEELINGS, is2g, one of the best writing moments form LJ. All his walls were broken. He let the light in him come out, she is his light.
Anyway, I read Nightfall a LONG time ago, I’m probably missing or saying something wrong but yeah it’s along those lines.
In the books Damon loves Elena *or whatever they like to call his obsession for her, bc he Elena was a goal he wanted to reach, there are true feelings, I - and many people- just don’t see true love, the love* but he also loves Bonnie. And is genuine. It’s pure. Soulmates *as much both if them refuse to believe on that, they live in denial, bc ‘pff BD, noooo, what? nooo let me chase Elena, hmm noo Matt, no we don’t love each other -can’t stop kissing each other-*So that’s why for us the bathtub scene is UNTOUCHABLE. Or the fact Bonnie is THE one who Damon as vampire sacrifices his own life to save her, He dies for her *but then she dies bc of it and they go to other side* Now in this S6, for the first time I’m seeing shades of BookDamon and the way is being blend I’m positively surprised. *and Bonnie sacrificed her life for his*
But this is tvd, I wouldn’t be surprised with fails and they stealing more scenes from us, I just hope if never happen to us, the couple the scene belongs too, that also don’t be given to another one. Bc so unfair.
Damon/Bonnie/Bamon in books and tv are SO similar and SO different at same time. But their essence is the same. Don’t get me wrong, MOST of people ships TV bamon bc TV bamon, nothing to do with the books, in they books they are perfection, but in TV they had different storyline but still are EVEN more amazing with such potential *myself, I started ship them in S1, and before the show begins I just had read the first 2 books and there were basically only triangle and no Bamon interaction at all, I had NO idea, so to me all started with TV Bamon and how they are on the show*
I just wish we could have this Canon bathtub scene for us in tvd someday. *and exactly like it was written, it doesn’t need to be touched bc it’s perfect, maybe just the very veeery ending bc both are in a good path w each other rn on the show hahaha*
