Went to my first rodeo this weekend!

What do you mean you are starting over? Aren't you just changing classes?

Well yes, but I have to start over getting to know the students and basically my 1st week with them will be like the first week of school all over again. Plus, I had just gotten into the swing of things with 3rd grade, now I gotta figure out how they do things in 2nd

Emotional Day

Went in for my first post conference today following my first observation which was yesterday. The good news is that it went SUPER well! Then they drop the ball on me that due to a lack of student enrollment, I’m changing to 2nd grade in two weeks. I’m so sad to be leaving my students and my 3rd grade team. Literally have cried on and off all day. They told me with a whopping 10 minutes before picking up my kids from specials. I was a wreck. I’m not the only one getting screwed over though. All the long term subs just the boot from our school and another teacher also lost her position and had to change grades as well. Such a nightmare.

Looks like I’m back to square 1 starting September 28th....

Went camping this past weekend with Captain, his best friend and his best friend’s gf. It was such a great time! He’s seriously such a great guy!

He also posted a pic of us on his fb and told me his family knows that we’re dating :) I’m becoming friends with the best friend’s gf and she told me how she talked to Captain after our camping trip and how “he was gossiping about you like a giddy school girl. He is so smitten with you.” ^_^ Really happy with him. We’re still not official, but only been dating in person for a month. Apparently he refers to me as his “lady friend.” Fine for now, but that’ll eventually have to change.

Also! In the month that we’ve been dating, he has slept over and not once has he tried to get in my pants! He’s quite the gentlemen! <3

So Captain and I finally had our first date! I was so nervous because we had been talking for about a month and a half. Then right before I moved here, he got sent overseas for a two-week deployment. Turns out, he was in Kenya.

Anyways, we finally got to meet on Sunday and it went soooo well! He picked me up and got out of his car to give me a hug. He was dressed nicely and was looking quite handsome! I told him I was super nervous and he said he was happy to hear that cause he was too. We went out to lunch and he even paid which was super nice! I offered and he’s like “you can pay next time if you’d like.” I agreed and he added “Plus, I just guaranteed myself a second date with you.”

After lunch he drove me about a half hour away into the mountains to Lake Las Vegas. Honestly, we were there like 5 minutes, but I think he just wanted more time to chat in the car. Later, we went for ice cream and on our way back to the car he held my hand :) Then he dropped me off, gave me another hug, and told me he was going to take a day off work this week to take me paddle boarding before I start working next week.

Anyways, he took off this Tuesday but his uncle ended up coming to town on a business trip so now he has to use his day off to spend with his uncle. A bummer, but I understand. He said he’s gonna see if he can get this Thursday off too, but isn’t too hopeful. Regardless, I know I will see him this Sunday ^_^

Hopefully this continues to go well!

My advice to you on whether your guy is a keeper or not is if he has other plans besides being in military like does he have real estate properties (this is what my dad did; he invested in real estate in he's twenties), skill job that he can get after military, etc... When he gets out of military, the civilian world doesn't value military resume when it comes to higher paying jobs. My dad had real hard time finding a decent job after military. I just wanted to give you my input.

Totally appreciate your input! Like I said, I’ve never been involved with a military guy whatsoever so any input/advice/etc is greatly appreciated!

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do great. My dad was an Air Force Captain. He's retired now. People think that military life is great with living in different places all the time and so on, but it's not what it looks like. Most of time, you don't get to choose where are you assigned so you could end up in a shit hole of a place and if you do get a great place like Hawaii, you'll have to leave in couple of years... pay isn't that great. It's a comfortable existence.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the insight! Based on his job he said he gets Arizona, Georgia, Vegas, Japan, and England...at least most are US based! I definitely am not going into anything thinking “this will be glamorous!” Moneys definitely not a concern for me either though, if it was, I wouldn’t be a teacher :-p

6 hours til I leave for the airport for my big move and 8.5 hours til my flight!

So excited to move into my apartment ^_^

Dad will be flying out with me and staying with me til Tuesday morning to get me all set up and settled in.

Looking forward to meeting Captain, but now that he’s in a mysterious country for a short term deployment that will have to wait. Should be back end of July/early August. Fingers crossed it goes well!

I move to Vegas in a week and everyone’s doing the “oh I haven’t seen you yet though!”

I’ve been home for 5 months...clearly you weren’t THAT concerned.

Or how my aunt commented on a photo I posted on FB of the Korean BBQ I had last night “Wish we could’ve gone”

That would require you to meet me AFTER work, but no, you chose to only ever do lunch so you could run home to your bf that lives with you, cause GOD FORBID you don’t have dinner with him one time!

Damn, that time of the month must be coming up...or maybe I just can’t deal with people’s flakiness and fakeness.

Deployment

Getting my first taste at deployment as Captain is being sent overseas this Friday. Luckily its short term (only a few weeks) but he can't say where he's going. All I know is that he's been taking anti-malaria meds...but that hardly eliminates too many places. It's a bummer cause I move out there next weekend and he's leaving this weekend but luckily he should be home by the end of July/early August. He also doesn't know if he'll get an internet connection where he's going either so we'll see!
