Simon nodded a little. âOf course, Iâll help you out, Noah,â he smiled reassuringly. âWould you like to help me out carrying some of these things? Unless you have something else to do?â Now he didnât have to look for a job anymore, he might have some free time. Simon would love to get to know him.
"Yes, of course," he said, thought still wasn't sure how trustworthy the other was and so he was a bit reluctant to come closer and take one of the boxes. "Where do they need to go?"
Laces
Simon raised his hands in defense. âOf course. I can help distract them at the door, if you would like me to do that,â he said, nodding a little. âHave you sneaked in and out before?â he asked, but he still wondered what was keeping the boy from his parents. Why didnât he want to see them?
"No," he replied. "I'm not sure if I'll be able to, but there's always someone home. That's why I haven't gone yet. Maybe if we go during the afternoon you can distract mother at the door, when she's the only one home. And I'll go via the backdoor. I don't have the keys, but I know where they used to keep a spare set..."
Laces
"You havenât seen them?" he asked, his eyebrows raising. "Why do you think thatâs better? I can help reunite you if that would help you," he said, but he understood why one wouldnât want that.
"No, I really need them not to know I'm back," he said again, a bit more desperately this time. "I can't explain," he repeated. "I just need some things."
Laces
Simon nodded a little. âWhy donât you want to see your family, Noah?â he asked, concern clear on his face. Families could get horrible in these situations. He witnessed a lot of PDSers getting kicked out for who they were, being abused⊠he himself was one of them, but that was for another reason, one he had to answer for.
"A couple of reasons," he said. "Mostly because I don't want them to know I'm... back. It's better if they don't know."
Laces
"I act on behalf of us. I help out where it is needed. Our kind is in the minority and we arenât treated fairly. Itâs where I come in." He smiled reassuringly. "I can help you, if you would like that."
He nodded a little. He hadn't had any offered help since he'd come back from the treatment center and he wasn't particular used to help to begin with. "I don't want to see my family. I just need to get into my room and out without them noticing." Maybe this was the point he'd get told off.
Laces
Simon nodded. âIâm sure I could help. Iâm helping a friend move some things right now. She just reunited with her family,â he said. âAlso PDS, like us.â
He hadn't expected that. "Oh, you're all together?" he asked, as if he'd missed the notice. "I don't think you'll want to help me get my things. I'm not even sure if it's worth it, to be honest. I just need some clothes... Stuff like that."
Laces
Simon nodded. âIs there a particular reason youâre staying here?â he asked kindly. He was looking down at the younger boy. If he was at a B&B, he clearly didnât have family around. âYou could tag along with me, if youâd like.â
He looked a little taken aback by that, not because he didn't like the offer, but because he had no idea whether he could trust it. "I need to get some of my things... I've just not got round to it."
Plot 89: Coffee and Comfort
Muse A is a college student, reeling from a bad breakup/stressing over midterms/(etc.). Drowning their sorrows/worries at the campus coffee shop one night, Muse A encounters their professor, Muse B. Muse B is looking for an outlet to plug in their laptop and Muse A offers the one beside their table. Muse B joins Muse A for a coffee and they exchange small talk as Muse B grades coursework. As the evening progresses, the conversation continues and by the time the cafe is ready for closing, the pair is left with a desire to keep the conversation going. Feeling it inappropriate to âhang outâ together off-campus, Muse A and Muse B make unofficial plans to continue their chat at the cafe the following night. Muse A and Muse B have such deep/meaningful/enjoyable conversations that they resolve to start meeting each other to talk once a week.
Optional:Â Gradually, an attraction develops between the pair and they cautiously embark on a relationship. The pair must keep their affairs secret because of potential repercussions for them both. Â Â

Simon shook his head. âUnfortunately, they think that way,â he said. âI donât know a place, but is it urgent? Do you have a place to stay?â
"That's the point," he replied. "I don't really... I'm staying at a bed and breakfast, but-- you know-- they'll want to get paid, or I'll get kicked out."
Laces
"A job?" he asked. "Have you had any luck so far?" He couldnât imagine anyone with PDS getting a job, not around here, not anywhere. They werenât accepted, so why would they get paid. The kid looked young. It could be naivety.
He shook his head. "I don't think they really want us taking their jobs," he replied, thought it sounded like he thought of it more as a joke. "I suppose you don't know of anywhere I should try? I don't mind what it is, really."
Laces
Simon smiled and moves the boxes a little closer to a bench that stood on the pavement. Then motioned for the boy to come closer and join him. âHow are you today, Noah?â
He wasn't sure why the other was talking to him at all, other than that he'd given him some friendly advice. But it did come in handy, considering he wasn't doing entirely well today. "I've run out of money, so I'm looking for a job."
"Your shoelace is undone. Might want to tie it before you continue carrying all those boxes."
Simon looked down past the boxes he was carrying and then carefully put them down on the floor, moving to tie his laces, which the kid had so kindly pointed out to him. Now he took a good look, he smiled even wider. âThank you for telling me.â He said, giving him a knowing smile. They were the same, he noticed. âIâm Simon,â he said. âAre you from around here?â
Noah nodded, looking at the boxes curiously, but not stepping closer to have a better look. "Yes," he replied. "Sort of," he added as an afterthought. "I'm Noah."
"Your shoelace is undone. Might want to tie it before you continue carrying all those boxes."
