It’s Beltane Witches!

Also known as Bealtaine, this is the time when we transition from the feminine to the masculine half of the year. Having made it through the dark, dormant, contemplative winter, we will now begin to see the results of transformation come into the light of fruition. When the sun is rising, go to the grass and wash your face in the dew, enabling yourself to awaken from the sleep of winter. Decorate yourself and your altar with flowers and ribbons, and celebrate the creative, fertile energies we are now moving into. This is the official start of summer in the northern hemisphere, so activities that you are able to do outside are best if the weather permits (such as eating outdoors, or dancing around the maypole, or just simply sitting in the grass). Beltane is the celebration of fire, fertility and hearth; therefore, activities such as arts and crafts or cleaning may be chosen, as it is a holiday of ritualistic purification (think of the purification of fire, as well as the act of washing one’s face with morning dew, which is an activity thought to bring youth, clarity of thought, and the ability to see fairies).
