“ sort of expected to show up, ” bash replied with a grin. he draped an arm on marisol’s shoulders and turned her to look at the crowd around them. “ there’s a million people here and tomorrow there’ll be like a billion. feeling the stress yet ? ” his eyes kept scanning the crowd to no avail. “ and any idea where art is ? he needs to proofread my speech. ”

ariel blinked, as the lump in her throat and the rock that firmly thudded in the pit of her stomach grew. she was consciously trying not to think about her boyfriend, but it seems as if bash had different ideas. “uhh - yeah sure.” it wasn’t as if she was going to shout it out from the rooftops! “you’re… worried about what your mom would say?” 

“ thanks. ” he pressed a kiss on top of her head. it was a fair deal for the both of them. it wasn’t like ariel had anything to gain from bringing this up. “ i mean– ” his cheeks reddened. if she put it like that, it sounded childish. “ shut up. ” he cleared his throat and massaged his sleepy eyes. “ i had a good time. it was fun after such a long time. do you want to get breakfast ? ”

“ yes but... you have weird orphan energy despite having two parents. ” his hand vaguely gestured towards her. “ i happen to have respect for the old man. ” more than manon could imagine, he was willing to bet. “ so can’t do that. i have to be nice about this. ” he leaned forward and raised his brows at her before poking the dimple that had appeared. “ don’t be bitchy, manon. i like it more when you’re nice. it’s such a rare treat. ” he returned his gaze to the message. “ the question is, will the evening be way too uncomfortable and a waste of my time, or will it be alright and possibly even fun ? i don’t like gambling with my evenings. ”
