"Unfortunately for you, the closest village was just destroyed by bastards like these." Choosing to enlighten the man, he cocked his head in question. "What manner of 'saint' gets lost this badly, anyway? Your gods must be having a good laugh right now."

“Specters are bad guys who serve Hades, their god of the Underworld. They want to spread death and darkness in the world. But if they aren’t here, perhaps that is a good thing as long as they didn’t follow unnoticed.”

Monsters were very real, unfortunately but most of the time they tend to stay in their own lane. After all there was little else to do when the area he's in is usually guarded by people from the church.

The bright light of holy power had dissipated, yet some annoying, colorful spots remained at the edges of Sanzo's vision. Normally, he knew better and closed his eyes in anticipation of the blinding power of his sutra.

But normally, he was not resorting to his strongest technique on his own. Every time his companions happened to be absent, things turned into a series of massive nuisances one after the other.

And because no bad day goes unpunished, the cherry on top had been an ambush from his enemies. Luckily, the sutra had done its job, and the youkai assassins had been reduced to dust so thin nothing remained to be cleaned up.

It was as he returned the mystical manuscript to rest on his shoulders that he heard the voice, and realized he was not as alone as he'd like. Swearing under his breath, the monk turned with his banishing revolver pointed straight at the stranger.

He didn't look like a youkai, nor even a half-youkai. At least that explained why he'd been spared by Sanzo's sutra.

Didn't mean he could not be a foe, all the same. Humans could be as troublesome as demons. Sanzo himself could at times be the living proof of it.

Such as right now.

"You'd better be quick and give me one good reason not to think you're another assassin sent after the Maten Sutra." He intimated, not buying the words of apparent obliviousness to the nature of his robes. People unable to recognize a Sanzo priest were far and few... and all of them were worthy of suspicion, in his book.

Monsters were monsters, and demons were beings who would kill humans given the chance. No matter how much they look human, their not so Grigori would try to not cry for them later. After all, this is a dog eat dog world, and not one kind to those who keep showing mercy to everyone.

It was a unknown weapon in front of him, and using his rarely used god given intelligence he concludes with wisdom that testing it against enhance skin would do nothing but be an annoyance. But with all the demons dead, who knows if whatever weapon it is is also blessed.

So he holds his hands up.

"Sutra... that shiny cloth thing in your wearing? Never heard of it before. Is it some sort of super weapon or something only those of your faith can use?"

Grigori is ...momentary confused , but also asking about it. They might not answer, with how violent and seemingly protective the other is about it.

"If....you want me to leave, Can you at least point me to the nearest village? walking alone for a long time is... tiring."

“No, I am not a local or traveller. I am Regulus, the gold Leo saint of Athena. I was fighting a specter earlier, but now I am here? Can you tell me more about where I am? Did you see any specters coming out of this portal?”

That sounded like a monster, in honesty. But it could be a title, specters... but he would have to be honest about it at least.

It was blunt, and very crass. Not something you would expect from someone who is also named a saint, alas no one gave him the lessons to be fit for high society or at least someone who would make vows at the regular.
