Woodward’s Skokie Charitable Trust Board held their Annual Trust Awards luncheon on Thursday December 12th and distributed $46,000 in total to local charities. BBBS Metro Chicago would like to thank Woodward’s Skokie Charitable Trust Board, Community Outreach Team, and its members for making the donations possible. “Giving back to the community aligns with our constitution: Woodward is committed to supporting programs and organizations that ensure our communities are desirable places to live and work”, says David Berkley, Chair of the Woodward’s Skokie Charitable Trust and Skokie Community Outreach Leader.

Back in October, we asked our friends, family, colleagues, board and staff to Be the Difference by making a financial contribution to our End of Year Campaign. As we begin to wind down our campaign, we’d like to take a moment to thank our 240 donors who have invested in Big Brothers Big Sisters thus far. With your help, we've raised more than $463,000, are 86% to reaching our goal, and one step closer to matching 1,800 children with an adult mentor this year (which would be a record number of children served for the organization).
To help us adequately express our appreciation, Little Brother, Aadam and Big Brother, Karthik, along with Aadam’s mother, Monica, have prepared a special video message for you.
Why is your investment so important? We simply cannot do this alone. We need generous investors who believe in what we do and are willing to join us in making sure every child has an opportunity to succeed in life.
If you haven't made your annual donation yet, we hope you will consider making a gift today by going to http://BeTheDifference2013.Kintera.org. To donate stock or securities, please click here or contact me at [email protected] or at 312.207.5601.

SCHAUMBURG, IL (March 21, 2013) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago and Comcast joined together today with local officials to launch an innovative, mentoring partnership called “Beyond School Walls,” an on-site workplace mentoring program. The program’s mission is to help young people succeed in school and in life. As part of the program, 9 Streamwood High School students visit Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region headquarters in Schaumburg every other week throughout the school year and meet with assigned Comcast mentors. The mentors talk with the students, and participate in pre-planned activities geared toward avoidance of risk taking behavior, socio-emotional competence and academic success. The program is designed to keep students in school, out of trouble and on the path to graduation and post-graduate success.
