Talking About All of Robotnik's Canonical Love Interests

Part Eight: Ella, Sonic X (and bonus character!) (find previous part here)

I'll be honest in my opinion that Sonic X is one of the least watchable Sonic cartoons ever made, so this post is mainly about Ella and Robotnik's relationship in the Sonic X comic. If there's anything significant I've missed, feel free to mention it in a reblog :)

Anyways, Robotnik's relationship with Ella mainly appears in issues #32 & 34 of the Sonic X comics. During his flirtation with professional wrestling, El Grand Gordo a.k.a. Robotnik finds himself needing the aid of Sonic and company, taking an instant liking to the Thorndyke's kindly maid, Ella.

Ella's personality isn't much of an out liar from what we've seen in this series. If anything, she's a rehashing of AOSTH's Omeletta in her submissive role, affectionate nature and certain... physical aspects we'll discuss later. Only, she has a backbone.

When disguised, Eggman takes the obvious route of charming her-

-as himself, however, he seems to be intent on annoying her to get her attention. And showing off his "desirable prowess", of course.

Also in continuity with Robotnik's somewhat established 'type' in a physical sense (see link above), Ella is a larger chested woman. Robotnik is implied heavily to be physically attracted to her, literally drooling over her.

He even has a bunch of pictures of her above his head. Creepy, perhaps, especially as she's shown to have no interest in him as Eggman.

Overall however, it's implied that Robotnik's desire for Ella comes from the surprisingly wholesome ambition of having some normalcy. So, his actions can hardly be labelled as weird as some other Robotniks.

Bonus!

In episode #78 of the Sonic X anime, titled 'So Long Sonic', Robotnik makes a risqué comment on Rouge's appearance. I heard somewhere the actual line in the original Japanese version actually translates to "you have a very ample bosom" or something alike, which makes more sense for Robotnik, but either way my theory is proven once again.

Of course, Robotnik has no emotional attraction to Rouge. I only put her in as a bonus because he's at least implied to find her physically attractive, which is kind of interesting when you consider Sonic X Robotnik is one of the few Robotniks who doesn't believe in inherit Mobian inferiority...
