The Unified World Codex
Chapter 1:
The Dark Before the Dawn
The year 3000 ADš is officially recorded as the Year of the Collapse - the event that precipitated the Great Evolution and the most profound transformation in human history. The trigger was the Global Crime Rate Chart, a document all of the countries² published on Jan 2, 3000 AD. Upon its publication, the remaining world governments collectively declared the end of the Old World. All of the lands of past earth (now the Middle World lands) were in complete destruction. Some places were on fire, some were completely lifeless. They all were different, but as a whole it was uninhabitable.
The crime rate showed that 99.9% of all the people who lived in that time committed a felony, such as murder, assault, kidnapping, armed robbery, etc. The world was in need of changes, therefore, a group of scientists traveled to the zones of Antarctica (south pole of the middle world). Back then Antarctica was completely lifeless and no people lived there. But most of the waters and oceans (now the Down World waters and lands) were unexplored, so the scientists went there against most of the warnings and orders.
The scientistsâ group spent around two years in the waters of Antarctica, while the world population went from 9 billion living Baseline Humanity to around 700,000 or 800,000 in total. Furthermore, other living species - such as cows, cats, and dogs - declined from 1.5 million (scientifically described and cataloged species) to 300,000, which represents the total loss of approximately 1.2 million scientifically described and cataloged animal species.
Scientists faced many troubles while working in the waters of Antarctica, and at some point, their team of four people went down to three. Scientists thought that their journey would end there without any progress, but after another week, with their resources nearly depleted, they found it. The Blessing.
The Blessing, or Germinus StabilisÂł, was a germ that was found and brought back to the lands by the scientists. Some call it the Curing Germ, but the idea is the same - the germ helped humanity restore hope. The Blessing was a complicated and unknown thing for baseline humans. Many were afraid it would take the lives of the last survivors. But since many more were dying every day, they let the scientists in.
Not much is known about that day, since not many baseline humans were in a position to write down history. But some information is known. The leader of the scientists was a female baseline human. She was an extraordinarily smart woman, but she was nothing without her team. At the time of their arrival back in the lands with The Blessing, sadly another member of the team passed away, and only two of the scientists were left alive.
It's not recorded what happened to the scientists after the beginning of the Dawnâ´, but it's known that they were praised as the gods, and they are the base of the official religionâľ of our time. But The Dawn only had begun, and the world wasn't a safe place yet.
The biggest challenge was the restoration of the lands and acceptance of the New Rules. Since many people were already criminals and didn't want to obey the governmental laws, people decided to take matters into their own hands. Many decided to come up with a new system treating outlaws, which was a creation of the law system âTraffic Lightâ, in which all the criminals no matter their crime would be brought to justice. Many people started to patrol the streets and left overs of the cities to prevent crimes from escalating. Most of the people already knew the outcomes of being a criminal and what it had done to their world, so in just a few months, the crime rate went from 77% down to 0.1% which was the largest change of crime rate in history, in a positive way.
Restoring the lands was another problem. Many lands were burned, buried, destroyed or just unhabbitable. The safest place was the lands of country Greece (Southern Middle World lands), where lived baseline humans that eventually didn't evolve much and became the Human Race we know today. As The Highest Government was forming, and the crime rate was falling, many of the Living went to restore the lands. The operation started in the lands of Asia, Japan (East Middle World), which were the most difficult lands of survival. Due to water levels going down, the lands became dry, lifeless and very infertile.
The reason why lands of the country Japan were affected the most is unknown, many speculate that the iron in the ground became more toxic and aggressive, which resulted in the loss of fertility and halted evolution in the region.
1 - "AD" refers to Anno Domini, Latin for "in the year of the Lord," used in the calendar system counting years from the estimated birth of Jesus, while "BC" (Before Christ) counts years backward, Baseline Humanity decided to count this way because a lot of their world and culture were based on religion rather than just practical shortening of numbering to count the years
2 - Countries were a social and governmental construct that Baseline Humanity used, because of different leaders and sizes of lands, it led to a lot of wars in-between the Baseline Humanity, which led to many deaths
3 - Germinus Stabilis is the most common name that is used in the education system. Even though officially it's called âPanadaptor anthropophilusâ, most of the schools use a simplified version of it, which roughly translates to Germ of stability. It comes from old-fashioned Latin language that is still being used in medical fields
4 - The Dawn, is a name of the beginning of the era after The Collapse, which lasted from 3005~ AD to 10,000 AD, after which The Government restarted the calendar and named it âModern Eraâ or ME in short
5 - Religion was very different in the culture of Baseline humanity. Due to religious reasons a lot of people suffered wars, starvation and punishments for not following the rules that were set
